Police Chief Navarre admits failure of his/Finbeiner's plan to plaster the sides of Patrol Cars with business advertising.

"Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre thought it was the ideal situation.
But very few businesses liked the idea and even fewer agreed to participate.
"We thought we had something good that was going to work," Chief Navarre said, adding the idea was brought to him by Mayor Carty Finkbeiner. "I was wrong.".

Once again, his folly shows and makes the entire administration look exactly as they are..fools with folly to spare. Only 4 businesses signed ...................................

For taking the step to admit the failure and hopefully learning from it.

FTA: "And when the program failed, the Mud Hens instead purchased three
bicycles for the department, which are used by Toledo police to patrol
near Fifth Third Field during home baseball games."

"ProMedica made a monetary donation in support of the police department,
said Tedra White, spokesman for Toledo Hospital. She declined to
disclose the amount of the donation."

So at worst, the project was a wash financially and probably resulted in additional funds for the police department. If the Promedica donation covered the mailing costs of the letters sent to businesses, how can anyone be upset about this? The city tried something different to shift the burden off of taxpayers and it didn't work. But it also didn't cost us anything and netted us three bikes to use for community policing.

Mr. Handbanna you're getting soft. These City administrators fail at just about everything they do. This is just another example of their non-existent leadership abilities.

But that is splintering the details w/o taking the fact that getting a cosolation prize is more a testiment to the greatness of the 4 businesses that care fore the city. Finkbeiner and Navarre still missed the goal as well as the fact that there's apparently no plan "B". Systemic infection Adminstration wide. Unless of course you count the "Blame Someone Else" plan that is so often utilized to cover the overpaid behinds of incomptent. I say "Incompotent" as in they know they are in over their collective heads and still do not seek the efforts and wisdom of financially resposible profeshionals.

They are so caught up in their Mini Kingdom they fail to realize that the hulls been gashed and we're sinking fast. "And the band played on........."

I say we test em all with the "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" game and see what happens!

Plan B is to pay for the new squad cars with the money budgeted this year. The ads on the police cars were going to defray the cost of the new cars and weren't counted upon in the budget from what I've seen.

It's not hard to understand why they tried to sell ads on cruisers. This has proven successful in other small cities, so TPD tried it here. It didn't work so they scrapped the plan. In the end, TPD ended up better off financially than they would have if the project had never been initiated. The only thing I faultNavarre for in this situation is not taking the money from the four sponsors, which would have cut $60,000 from the budget.

CF seems to think that revenue to run the City of Toledo is what will make Toledo move forward and improve. Mere mortals like myself can easily see that opportunities and good jobs will rescue Toledo,. Everything else will fall into place once those two things are established.

Here's what I recommend to CF. Brian Schwwartz tell CF to get with Jacobs and let him explain what's needed in Toledo. While continuing to keep his mouth shut, CF implements what Jacobs has told him. If CF is so passionate about Toledo he will do what Jacobs tells him. CF must understand that Jacobs is the leadership in Toledo, not CF.

Only 4 businesses? That's about right. Toledo is in serious decay and provides no sensible "value-added advertising" market. Toledo is now at the 1950 population level. At 1000 people/yr leaving rate, we're going to shrink to the 1920 level soon enough. Advertising needs an audience. So why would anyone, EVER, think Toledo provides some advertising opportunity?

Oh, yeah, that's right: The politicians think so, since they cannot admit that Toledo is on the serious decay curve. Hence, this ridiculous (i.e. big-city type of) police-car ad plan.

On top of all that, I'm sure (but don't actually know) the ad rates were on the big-city level, which is about the speed of Toledoan (i.e. delusional) thinking. The city sings the same sad song of OVERCHARGING again and again. The end result is that the plan fails, another building sits empty, more hands in the area remain idle, and then more feet get a-walkin' down the road to Maumee, P-burg, and other environs.

What the hell is wrong with your mind, BonerBoy? Are you so fascinated with that stupid saying that you put it at the end of every display of your ignorance?
The only thing I can think of is that command is what you hear large men say to you every time you try to show how adult you are. GROW UP, CHILD.

When you add a signature line in your account preferences, it shows up automatically at the end of every post. Is there anything else about the internet I can explain for you?

So what is your ignorant ass saying?
That an ignorant saying is your signature? Think about it, dumbass.

Or are we done here?
