State Representative Mark Wagoner today filed petitions to be a candidate for the 2nd Senate District in 2008. The 2nd Senate District includes Wood, Erie, Ottawa and western Lucas County.
Wagoner has been a proven leader in Columbus for bringing more opportunity to Northwest Ohio. Currently serving in his second term as State Representative, Wagoner has worked to strengthen schools and to encourage the development of new industries and jobs for the region.
"I am looking forward to getting out in the Second District to hear concerns of its citizens. We have a great team in place and we are looking forward to running a strong campaign," Wagoner said. "In the State Senate, my top priorities will be continuing our improvement in education in Ohio and promoting polices that encourage economic development and job creation to get Ohio's economy moving again."
In his bid for the Senate, Wagoner has secured the endorsement of Senate President
Bill Harris (R-Ashland) and the full support of the Republican Senate Campaign
Committee, which Harris chairs.
