Several students at the University of Toledo are participating in an empty hoster protest this week to recognize the need for students and faculty with Concealed Carry permits to practice their rights at a public university. Protests such as this are occurring across the nation and are sponsored by the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, a grassroots organization to shed light on the issue. Campus police simply cannot respond in the timeframe of an incident such as Virginia Tech or Northern Illinois University, and special text message and email alert systems are only as fast as the administration members who distribute the message. SCCC believes that licensed Concealed Carry owners could apprehend and help save lives by preventing violence and stopping sudden incidents. UT Students Hold Open Holster Protest

I think it's past time that the students started protesting. Of course, now that a few are protesting the limitations placed on their right to self-defense, the anti-freedom idiots will have to hold a demonstration of their own. With any luck the campus police will get to use the new rubber bullets they were issued by homeland security.
They should find out the minimum definition of a gun, i.e., no receiver or whatever. Then take that, even if it's only a pistol handle in their holsters. Whatever it is to be defined as a non-gun, wear that and make a statement to the "authorities".
Here's a better idea, UT student: Grab your books, head to class, sit, listen and ask questions of your teachers and fellow students. Then study later at your dorm or apartment. And by all means enjoy the social life that only a university campus can offer. This should be the time of your life. But by all means do not be promoting firearms on campus. How can we (or you yourself) be assured that you won't be the one to lose a lugnut and decide that pulling the trigger is the solution to whatever problems you encounter?
opportunity to kill our kids. Those signs and policies are foolish. The power is with the people . Concealed carry holders are trained , background checked , and thoroughly investigated before they get a permit. CC holders have a very low crime rate. There presence deters criminals
If you start letting college students have civil rights - how are we supposed to have massacres on campus? What will the mainstream media do every few weeks if the shooters that go off the deep end aren't able to just roam freely about campus areas and shoot the students like fish in a barrel?
What then?! Huh? If you let college kids have civil rights - who'll be next? Do you really want law abiding citizens carrying guns? It should only be criminals who can have guns because they're the only ones who don't follow the gun control laws....
Some people just don't think......
(and for those folks who've historically been confused - THIS was satire)
