Recent examples of no bid contracts signed by the County Commissioners include a now concealed contract with the Pizzuti Corporation for project management of the arena construction. “The Pizzuti deal is a classic example of the public interest not being served by no bid contracts done behind closed doors,” stated Konop. “I believe that contract squandered hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars and, depending on threatened litigation, may squander hundreds of thousands more.”

Also - what strings will be attatched to the bid system? Will it be a straight bid, or will weight be given to local contractors? Will contractors be required to have the correct racial mix in their employees?
