SB seems to be fast turning into the "Troy Neff Shameless Self Promotion Show". From what I can tell, Troy Neff has posted over 100 posts to promote his radio show in the 14 weeks he's been a member on SB. Just seems excessive to me, but maybe it's just me (if I posted that many anti smoking ban threads in that short of time, users would be blasting me & telling me to start a 'group'.
I can't speak for others, but no, Troy, I do NOT care.

i have been on 22 weeks and i have posted 48 odd stories. just in case anyone thinks about grouping me with the dj's on stories. i'm not bothered by their stories i only and listen to the ones that interest me.
I'm not bothered by Troy's posts - I simply don't read them, or listen to the audio. It just struck me, that somebody here blasted littlered for her light, silly stories, and suggested she did so excessively. And yet, troy seems to get a free pass. Maybe because he's supposed to be a radio God? I don't listen to the radio that early in the am, so I miss his shows - and I imagine there are people who also miss his shows & sometimes, are happy to be notified on how they can listen to them later. Not bitching about Troy's posts - just made an observation. (and I don't think anybody cares how troy got his nicknames, anymore than troy would care how any of us got nicknames).
Starling02, i do appreciate your comments. If any of my posts were self promotion this one qualifies, although that was not the purpose. It was just intended to be light hearted. And yes, I do know many won't care about nicknames. I do think men will get a kick out of the walking cure because as men we all have this potential. I did not have a problem with any of littlered's
posts either. We do and will try to keep posts pertaining to the Troy Neff Show focused on newsworthy topics.
What is the difference between posting a link to a New York times story vs. Troy or Fred posting/linking about their news? There is no difference. The audio format is really nice and it is good they are coming here to post news. There is a difference between self promotion and letting you hear or talk to the decision makers. If you don't like it, you now have the ability to ignore users, so if you want to ignore Troy, Fred or Littlered, you can now do so, even though I would not know why you would want to do that. There has been borders of abuse in just a couple of instances, but I don't see it and they are welcome to post here.
The problem is as this site grows, the topics may shift because I am not moderating the topics, but the issues that Troy and Fred post about are issues dealing with the primary mission of news and politics in NW Ohio.
Everyone has a different vision for the site, and that is respectable As the site grows, I am trying to allow it to flex to what you expect so look at the options available to you. With the different groups and ignore user, it can become more of what you want.
I really appreciate the ignore feature and just updated my list. Thanks for the new feature, Chris!
Let me add this. It would be nice, though, if the threads/ posts from someone on the ignore list wouldn't show up at all.

No, I never wondered, nor could I possibly care less. Even the drivel LittleRed posts is more interesting than this. In my opinion the quality of SB has gone downhill ever since the two radio talking heads started advertising and LittleRed began contributing news for the weird and twisted. The only encouraging thing I've read lately is DonWert announcing his departure, and that's a bit much to hope for.
