TPS Uniforms?

Tagged:  •    •

Channel 13 just had a story about a fight that broke out among Scott High School students. The video shows the majority of the students wearing street clothes and only one or two wearing uniforms. Are the uniforms optional among high school students? What a bunch of thugs.

...according to TPS, high school students don't have to wear uniforms but are required to comply with the District dress code, found here:

No jeans in the high school? Interesting.

Is that a new policy here, or has that always been the case and I just never noticed?

I can't believe that, I would think that Jr. High and High School would be the most important places for uniforms to be worn.

There was never a uniform policy although it was called a uniform policy. If TPS had introduced a dress code it would have been more palatable. Instead they issued a uniform policy which was really a dress code. But some students rebelled against a uniform but really it was a dress code.

This is the second year for a dress code/uniform policy at TPS for High School students.

I understand there was also some type of altercation at Libbey today also. At least channel 13 reported it as such.

and why the majority were mostly girls? Was somebody pissed because their boyfriend wasn't being faithful? Teenagers have the hormones but don't have the experience to recognize the "players" from potential faithful mates. I wonder if the girls ended up fighting over some jerk. Sometimes I think highschools are just big "mixers".

Just some blacks doing what they do best....causing trouble "All evil and unhappiness in this world comes from the I-concept."

richbuckeye - Your racist a@#hole.

I've seen a lot of whites & hispanics cause trouble. Not just a Black Thang, as prnhurt would call it. I am so tired of everything being shoved into a racist slot. That said - I believe that Scott used to have a higher Black student load than other races, so maybe that's what the writer meant. (but I doubt it).

When did I say that causing trouble was a "Black Thang.? Did you hear about the two white families in West Virgina who tortured a young black woman by raping, pulling out her hair, pouring hot water on her, being made to perform all types of sexual acts on the two families (male and female members), made to eat dog and rat feces, cut with a knife while being called the N word and had planned to kill her but was thwarted by the police.

I think it is unconscionable that you would write that I said something like that. Violence is not a "Black Thang" and you should be ashamed for saying that I said that.

I read it the same way you did Maggie.

If you look at history, all races are very guilty of violence and killing. Lets look at WWII. As I recall the people who started that fight weren't Black. Sixty million people died. Also, Joseph Stalin is credited in purging, a nice way of saying killing, 35 million of his own countrymen. As I recall, he wasn't Black either. There's a brawl at Scott High School and it becomes a defining moment for a whole race of people. You forget very quickly that this country invaded Iraq. I don't think any Black people made the decision to do that. Shame on you Richbukeye! I don't know if we should call you a racist, but we should call you something.

- it's a relatively new policy...there are others who post here who can probably tell you exactly when it went into effect...

I have read some ignorant comments on this website, but this one takes the cake.

...her reference to you was your use of the phrase "Black Thang" and not to the trouble...

...it's hard to tell inflection when it's just words...

IF YOU HAD A BRAIN YOU WOULD BE DANGEROUS.

Unbelievable.

I had the same impression, maggie.

And just from a general overall feel of starling's posts, I'd have a difficult time believing that she meant it the other way.

P.S. I did read about that West Virginia incident today, and it was horrifying. Definitely one of those incidents that makes you wish we had "eye for an eye" punishment, so that the sorry excuses for human beings who did that would have to suffer the way that poor girl did. :(
