Dwayne Morehead, who campaigned hard for Carty Finkbeiner for mayor in 2005 but later claimed racial discrimination over a job reassignment, has been fired.
Mr. Morehead, 34, was an administrative specialist with the city's Board of Community Relations at an annual salary of $45,000. He was terminated for "job abandonment," said Brian Schwartz, the mayor's spokesman.
Mr. Morehead claimed he was too sick to work, while a physician to whom Mr. Morehead was sent by the city ruled him able to work, Mr. Reinbolt said.

What exactly does an 'administrative specialist" do?
Sounds like some jacked up congratulatory job for working on a campaign...
"Its actually a City job classification. Its the classification just below manager."
the job is in administration, and not even in management and still knocks down 45K per year??
Maybe the old budget is full of other over paid 'administration' deck jockeys??
Its not a made up job. Its actually a City job classification. Its the classification just below manager. This firing was no surprise. Mr. Morehead predicted they would come up with trumped up charges to fire him and they did. The truth of the matter is the City blew it again. By firing Mr. Morehead the City violated Federal Family Leave laws. If Mr. Morehead filed FMLA paper approved by an attending physician who diagnosed his condition and ordered him to take time off, he doesn't need the approval of the City Administrators or the City's physician. The City doesn't have to pay Mr. Morehead for the time he is absent, but it is against Federal law to fire him. I read the article in the Blade and the Toledo Journal. I find it interesting the same story has two different spins on it. Time will bring out the facts and we will all see who the bad guys are. Frankly, I think I already know who the bad guys are and its not Mr. Morehead.
Billy, you are not listening. Its not a secretary's job. It is a management position, but it is Civil Service, not upper Management.
