Ironically, in 2005, the GMAC was in the same No. 1 position, and took the MAC West second-place Rockets before the MAC Championship game was played. That left the title game loser, Northern Illinois, with no bowl destination.
Obviously, the GMAC likes Toledo, But if the GMAC passes and takes Central Michigan, would the Motor City -- where a local casino is integral to the FBI gambling investigation -- pass on Toledo in favor of a MAC team with a worse record? Or for a team the Rockets already defeated?
Would the second-year International Bowl want any part of the Rockets?
