I have come to the conclusion, Toledeons love their taxes. Where the city and TPS screwed up is that they left money on the table. With the wide margins, they should have asked to raise the taxes even higher. Should have gone for the 1.25% and a 10 mil.
I'm no longer going to listen to anyone from Toledo complain about taxes, TPS, police, city council, or Carty.
Lovely 3 BR home in South Toledo !______________________________________________________________________

I love potholes!
... that Czarty is going to let attrition lower the number of police on the streets anyway.
Granted, countering that action is the trend for cops, firemen and teachers to try to stay in their jobs for longer periods.
Anyway, Toledoans aren't ready for the Depression yet. The denial is still too strong. So, they're going to have to pay and pay and pay until they catch on that they're POOR and can't continue relying on a middle class lifestyle ... combined with that other, stark realization that there won't be a welfare system to catch them anymore.
P.S. I've been telling people that there's no way Clinton would allow anyone else get the Dem nomination. Obama has no chance. One way or another, the superdelegates (unwisely) chose Clinton a long time ago and all this Primary crap is just to make it all look democratic and fair and debated. Obama will probably just slide into the Veep position to gather the racist (Black) and stupid (Progressive) vote under the Clinton heel once again, and the Dem circus act will reach its fruition.
P.P.S. McCain will win the White House anyway. Americans are still too scared of them Ay-rabs and highly value anyone who struts around like a Roman General, and are equally scared of them "tax and spend" Democrats while not caring about "borrow and spend" Republicans. What I don't know is if the Repubs will run a Dark Horse instead, like a Governor. If not, then for the 1st time in a LONG time, the Presidential race will NOT have an executive candidate. Executives are usually the clincher in such races.
a rama will pull it out , then we will see a vicious long media ad campaign this summer between Obama and McCain . That will be followed by a new campaign law that will make campaigns only 90 days in length !
I hope your prediction is wrong.
Normally I don't make a decision on a candidate until I consider myself informed. I don't think even in this campaign season I am informed enough to consider myself a fully qualified voter.
Thus far this year I think I know enough on Clinton and McCain I could make a decision if it were down to them. However I still don't know enough about what an Obama presidency means so I will wait even longer to make my decision.
On the Republican side I'm also glad it took so long. Had we not had such a long drawn out process and only 90 days we probably would have ended up with Romney, Guiliani, or Thompson as the nominee. As the longer process showed they all for one reason or another were flawed candidates.

you have to appreciate the turnout.
No matter how you feel about the outcome(s), you have to respect the 44%+ turnout.
Congrats to the candidates and the supporters of the issues. Hard fought wins.
You can blame the passage of the Tax levy(s) on Dem's and woman! There Stupid.
Woman are Brokin. Dem's most of them are stupid!

i'm appalled at the woman comment!!!! i DID NOT VOTE DEMOCRATIC, and i was pretty damn happy as i voted NO on both issues. please realize us women are NOT all the same, and some of us can think for ourselves and stand up for what we believe in.
I have to agree with littlered.
Women have more eligible voters than men and could represent a substantial voting block. However women never vote in a block as men have and thus women have never been the deciding factor of an election, at least in my lifetime.
Likewise the women's rights lobby has been one of the most consistently powerful lobbies in the country yet they couldn't even get the ERA passed. That was the nail in their coffin of futility.

That's rich^^ coming from someone with problems putting a simple sentence together.
GO FUCK YOURSELF, HOSTETLER,YOU TROLL COCKSUCKER!! MAN, I get tired of you disrupting threads!

Bullshit. Those sentences were swift, concise, and directly to the point. He's a goddamned troll, whose only purpose is to cause disruption in exchanging of ideas and opinions. I don't agree with YOU at all, for example, but I don't hurl insults unless you start it first. It's the same for me with anyone else on this board. Some of you are of the opinion your way is the only way, and because everyone doesn't agree 100%, they're somehow an inferior life form. My apologies to all for also being guilty of disrupting the thread, but some of these holier-than-thous get to me sometimes.

I blame the union's. Union member's don't know how to maintain their own pocketbooks, so they figure its' OK to relinquish their savings to Mark Sobzcak who will undoubtedly continue "spending their money wisely", and continue to be "business as usual".
I know where brass is coming from. I voted no on all taxes, and I about shit when I saw them pass.
Especially after all the bitching here.

One problem about websites like Swampbubbles is that it does not fairly gauge political opinion in Toledo. People who are attracted to this website tend to be people with strong feelings about the issues (positive or negative). So the opinions that are expressed on this website tend to be at both extremes of the Toledo political spectrum. Simply, this website is a great place to express ones opinion about the issues affecting Toledo, but it is not a good compass for political opinion in Toledo.
Good Point.

I'd say you're close weso.
I think this is a good place for political opinion but not a accurate measure of public opinion. Polls on here will not reflect accurately the feelings of Toledo just accurately reflect the feelings of people on here. However for political opinion this is a great place. We have Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, religious, athiests, nonsmokers and a hell of a lot of smokers.

I've watched more than enough elections in Toledo, and have formed the Laws of Toledo Elections:
1. If the proposed measure is a bad idea, it will pass by 2 to 1.
2. If the proposed measure is a horrible, awful, stupid, nasty, terrible idea, it will pass by a simple majority.
3. If the proposed measure is even worse than that, or if the proposers haven't had time to properly produce propaganda to support it, it will fail by a simple majority.
Just take a look at who the Blade's running. It's always all over the front page prior to an election, in my opinion.
Question, do those candidates have to report that as a donation?
I have spoken with several people (african american and white) who said they were ready to vote NO on the 3/4% until Rose got involved. Their claim is that they didnt need an outsider telling them how to vote and feared that their NO vote would be confused with supporting Rose's position.

those individuals gave a DUMB reason to not vote for something: who the hell cares what anybody thinks?! The fact is voting NO on 3/4% "temp." tax was/is the right thing to do REGARDLESS of who jumps on board - "johnny come lately".
Remember: voting results - when they accurate - don't care about the why's and the what for's...
and let my feelings known to these individuals. BTW..I voted NO and it had nothing to do with what Rose said or did.
I am just putting this out there because of some of the excuses I heard for people voting for it. I am sure there are people out there who I don't know which voted for it because of the same confused reasoning. ______________________________________________________________________

Good Lord Kat, you need to start hanging with a more intelligent crowd!! What an ignorant reason to change a vote!
