As we have noted many times in this space, the mayor is one of those people who believes the rules that govern ordinary folks don't necessarily apply to him. Toledoans have known that for decades, and they have decided, by electing Mr. Finkbeiner to three terms as mayor, that it doesn't matter.
So why should anyone raise a howl over Scout's continued presence in the mayor's office?
We don't think the fuss is warranted.

and:
I am prepared to argue - possibly even seriously! - that permitting Scout to continue his practice of taking Carty to work is in our civic best interest. It's pretty simple, really: When no one else understands our oft and easily misunderstood mayor, there is always Scout.

Do you think your CEO follows the exact same rules as you?
SensorG,
I hope you are being sarcastic, because if my CEO worked in building that prohibited pets, he/she would not bring it because I am sure they would follow the rules or risk getting evicted. Don't even get me started on how the chief executive of a city sets a poor example to all other residents by saying some rules do not apply to me.
