Deep freeze shuts schools for second straight day
Maybe I can get my boss to listen to this logic, but somehow I just don't think that will happen.

Im glad they closed the schools becasue of the weather. I wasn't going to let my son go to school anyway. There are alot of kids that don't get yellow bus service, some have to take tarta. My son only has to walk two blocks then wait for about 20 minutes. But in 20 below weather? No way Jose he's stayin' home.
The kids had school today and I drove my son and his friend (they are in kindergarten) to school, before it got so cold we walked. It was crazy cold out there today so I can only guess how much worse it was Monday and Tuesday. I can't imagine how bad it was today for the kids who had to take Tarta or walk but I do know that had walking my son to school been my only option this morning he would have missed school.
When it reaches a certain temperature - mechanical equipment just refuses to co-operate. I don't think there's any bad guy here.
It's just inconvenient as hell for working parents. I tried to always have a plan 'B', as in a neighbor or someone who would help me out in an emergency situation. The YMCA in Columbus used to have some helpful stuff too, for members. But that was a long time ago.
I guess it just seems unreasonable to me to blame the school if they are unable to hold class and we haven't been responsible enough to have a back up plan. And many times that's exactly where I found myself.
Schools close for one reason. The diesel fuel in the yellow buses turns to gel when temperatures bottom out...hence...the buses can't start.
Our kids safety has nothing to do with it.
Whats always boggled my mind is when they are scrolling the closings and I see day care centers popping up. I'd hate to be a position where my babysitter cancelled because of the cold.
