There have been reports of mystery postcards being sent to Republican Central Committee persons the week there was all of that controversy about the meeting. Today I was faxed (the attached post card) from someone in the party today. Please ignore the twisting of the text; this was done by the sender's fax machine. I will try to get a cleaner copy in the next couple of days.
Apparently some Republican Central Committeemen were sent postcards saying the meeting was cancelled, a day before the judge ruled. I checked with the party this evening and they did not send out these cards.
The postmark on these cards were 4/10, Judge Wittenberg ruled on 4/11 that the party cannot hold their meeting, so if they party did send them out, which they did not, they would have done it on 4/11 at the earliest.
So was this a dirty trick being played to try to get some central committee people to stay at home to shift the votes? Maybe. The person that received this card was not one of Stainbrook's merry band of men, but from one of the current party central committee people. And I know that more than one person has received this.
The cards look almost identical, but the ones sent out with the words cancel on the back were sent with no return address. It does appear to have the party disclaimer on the back although I can't read it.
The mystery postcards continue....

Both the party and Jon Stainbrook have stated to me that they did not mail out the postcards.
I have one of the postcards as well, according to Jon, as you referred to them some of his "merry bunch" received them as well though I have not personally been able to verify that. I was waiting for that verification and an additional audio recording.
It appears if this is true, that there is a third person who has the mailing information who sent them out.
Since I have the actual postcard marked "cancelled" in my possession, it does carry the disclaimer, but it is done in different format, as it appears that the information from the original postcard was photocopied on to the second mailing, then marked "cancelled".
The "cancelled" card I have in my possession also does not contain the stamped return mailing address of the Lucas County Republican Party. Nor does it contain the "do not forward return to sender" notification.
