"Chris Redfern, the head of the state Democratic Party, says he is investigating the Lucas County Democratic Party's stripper scandal and could take action against local party leaders because of it.
Mr. Redfern said he doesn't have the power to dismiss or punish a party chairman.
He does have the power to withhold assistance from the state party that local parties need to raise money, target voters, and bring in state elected officials to help candidates and get out the vote.
Mrs. Wozniak, president of the county commissioners, said, "It's obvious the time has come.
"We need a strong, healthy, united Democratic Party to gear up for 2008. We're seeing complaints about this situation and concern at the local level, the national level. I think he should step down. The situation is unacceptable," Mrs. Wozniak said.
Bill Lichtenwald, president of Teamsters Local 20 and a member of the B-team group that put Mr. Finkbeiner in office, said he was not at the golf outing and hasn't spoken to anyone who saw improper behavior. He attributed the dispute to partisanship.
"If there was an isolated incident, I don't know, if there was alcohol flowing, I don't know. I just think it's A-team, B-team politics," Mr. Lichtenwald said."

Carty has said plenty on Joe M., and said the issue isn't a concern of his's people as it's a party thing. He wasn''t there etc. Irish is his boy..and the OBC are all netowrked through one another. It would be stupid for Carty to say much...so expect more.
It's all a sick, twisted game to these elected peeps, which is why they must all go..and soon!
The first thing someone has to do is get Czarty out of the mix. Once that tyrant is banished to an island somewhere near French Guiana, we can get on with building a strong, united Democratic Party. If the Republicans in this town had their act half-way together they would mop up. Something must happen quickly to save the party.
I agree on the Republican thing. But isn't Carty pretty much staying out of this one? For once Carty is mostly keeping his mouth shut.
Carty was at Democratic headquarters right after the story broke and met with John Irish. John Irish is Carty's boy and Carty gave John Irish his support behind closed doors. What baffles me is that there is all this attention to some strippers shaking their booty at the golf outing, but none of these politicians who are asking for John Irish's head has said anything about the incident where City workers abandoned Ms. Pat Bannister stuck in the mud at the Marina District, in the middle of heavy construction vehicles whizzing around her, leaving her injured and requiring physical therapy. She could have been killed, but nobody seems to care about that. Don't get me wrong, strippers at the golf outing is totally unacceptable, but it appears to me these politicians are more concerned about their image than the depraved behavior of the city's administrators.
Carty hasn't stayed out of this. He wrote a letter to Mr. McNamara criticizing him. It's ironic that Carty implied that Mr. cNamara is a Carty clone. Mr. McNamara should be appalled that Carty would even think of labeling him a Carty clone. To date, Mr. McNamara has demonstrated that we made a good choice when we elected him to City Council.
All of Carty's cronies and his henchmen on the twenty second floor of the Government Center must be banished to the retirement village at the end of the runway at Toledo Express airport. We need to recall all of them.
