Joe the Plumber: McCain screwed up my life

Joe the Plumber is no longer a fan of either Sarah Palin or John McCain, it seems. Joe, also known as Sam Wurzelbacher, told an audience in Pennsylvania this week that McCain "is no public servant."

"McCain was trying to use me," Wurzelbacher said, according to public radio correspondent Scott Detrow. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.”

Hmmm....really? We told you that like a year & a half ago.

Republican House Conference

The Republican House Conference recently held in Baltimore, was a human chess game. President Barack Obama scored a checkmate! No speeches, no teleprompter, no notes just one brilliant man, proving point after point after point. The republicans underestimated the president when they agreed to have the conference televised. As he stated when proposing to put the earmarks online before a vote is taken, "sunshine is the best disinfectant."

Another ranking politicians will want to ignore.

Last place in the small-business-vitality rankings again belongs to Detroit, which continues to pay the price for the decline of the domestic automotive industry. The Detroit area lost 298,000 jobs during the past five years—an employment decline of 16.3 percent, easily the worst in any metro. It also experienced short-term drops in population and the number of small businesses.

Joining Detroit in the bottom five, in descending order, are Youngstown, Dayton, and Toledo, Ohio, and Milwaukee.

Ohio’s Tax Code Hinders Economic Growth

In May 2009, Forbes ranked Toledo as the worst job market among mid-sized cities, citing massive industry decline in the past decade. However, the plight of our community is not isolated; Cleveland, Dayton and Youngstown make the list for worst job markets in the nation, and businesses continue to hemorrhage from our borders. National Cash Register abandoned Dayton over the summer, and this month American Greetings announced plans to possibly relocate from its Brooklyn headquarters.
