Sylvania Schools "survey" - Looking at income tax

So the pre-levy survey is live on the Sylvania Schools website. It's a simple SurveyMonkey survey. Not sure who they've hired to do their PR for this go round, but if it's Mark Luetke and FLS, they are not getting their money's worth. They've tipped their hand about asking for a school income tax in Question 12:

12. You may be aware that Sylvania Schools over time have traditionally asked for community support via a property tax levy. In the future, if the district was to offer a different option to support our schools, which statement would you agree with most?

Conversation with a Union Democrat

Recently had following conversation with an auto worker, union member, Democrat - self described, plus his baseball cap and jacket logos agreed. We were watching fast-food CNN tv reporting on the presidential candidates. This guy was a fellow-geezer, meaning 60's or thereabouts.

This fella asked me who I voted for in the primary, so I told him... Trump. He then launched into his reasons for voting for Trump also. He repeated, "I'm a Democrat and I'm voting for Trump. All my buddies are voting for Trump also."

Why should we be surprised at yet another flawed man who is up front
And center ? He surprises us with open gaffes , baseless accusations . He is a product in part because 16 other candidates chose to lift themselves up, rather than coalesce around one of them to take on the Trump . He picked them off one by one . They were divided against each other . Yet his boldness , spontanaety , unorthodoxy apeals to us .
Let's remember flawed men of the past , Kennedy , MLK, Bill .
Each had more hidden flaws, yet each had seasons of greatness . Today we laud them .

PH2 recall rumors

Word on the street is that there's a supposed recall petition out there for the recall of PH2.

Possibly led by a former fairly-known Democrat.

Not Carty or Konop. They would make this rumor even more juicy.

What if there were a 3-way contest for President?

A lot of people are speculating on the presidential primaries and the eventual nominees from the Republican and Democratic Parties. But what if a third person entered the race in Presidential General Election? Remember Ross Perot?

Tonight could be the first major blow that ends the primaries

Tonight could be the first really major knockout blow in both primaries.

We're finally getting into winner-take-all states with a huge ammount of delegates.

Normally this is done by Super Tuesday but on both sides it's been just close enough to keep this interesting.

Michigan and Florida are the big ones. They hold a lot of delegates. Trump leads in both as does Hillary.

For the Democrats those two states make up almost 350 delegates or 14% needed. For the GOP they make up 160 delegates almost 13%.

Kevin Haddad signs wrongly claim re-election - Haddad says they were vandalized

Tom Troy covers Kevin Haddad's sign debacle where either he forgot to cover up the "re" or it fell off or was pulled off. Tip to any candidate - don't reuse your sign unless you permanently alter them, because it is easy for the sticker to fall off. Kevin has used his signs multiple times and his "Working for you" assumes that he is already "working" therefore, it is not unreasonable for people to look at your sign with suspicion.

It is not illegal or against sunshine and ethics laws to leak executive session information

I am shocked at the discussions happening about it being criminal to leak executive session information by board members. It has gotten to a point that two people filed Ohio Ethics Commission complaints alleging a Washington Local Board member is doing something illegal and against Ohio ethics laws. Superintendent Hickey is also alleging he will want to make similar complaints (Hickey should know better).

Why does Patrick Hickey feel compelled to tell staff not to talk to board members?

Terri Kern also came across this particular nugget.

Late last week, Patrick Hickey sent an email to staff telling them not to communicate with a board member who was asking questions about his leadership.

I am not sure why he thinks this is appropriate because it is his actions that have aroused the curiosity of the board and community to try really to get to the bottom of what goes on in the district.

Stainbrook's spends $20k in Party Money on legal fees and loses

In an attempt to restore himself and one of his girlfriends to the local Board of Elections, Jon Stainbrook spent nearly $20,000 in local party funds to sue Jon Husted in the Ohio Supreme Court.

He lost.

When all is said and done, the local Republican Party is out $20 grand it could have spent on other things such as money for candidates or funds for local party operations.

Superintendent Patrick Hickey has blocked me on Twitter

Ok, I went back to look at some of Patrick Hickey's Tweets and I saw he blocked me. We must have a professional here. Want to know what I said that made him block me? Wow, I would think he would have tougher skin than that. Strange that a Superintendent would block a member of the public like that only saying the obvious. Putting your head in the sand is not a solution.

The 14th Amendment is really quite clear. No law may be passed which pertains to one group of law-abiding citizens of the United States, which does not apply to others. Here is how "Section 1." of the 14th Amendment reads from the Cornell University Law School:
"Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Obama Is Outsmarting The Republicans Again

I listened to President Obama's State of the Union Address and couldn't stop laughing. The address reminded me of the strategy the Mongols used creating their empire. The Mongols would approach lands and give them two choices. They could surrender and become part of the Empire. If they surrendered they could keep their rulers, religions and cultures. If they refused to surrender they would be totally annihilated. It appears Obama is at the gates giving the Republicans this ultimatum. If the Republicans surrender Obama will go down in history as the most effective POTUS in history.

Lucas County to attract and retain immigrants

A paragraph in the article says that company's have moved to non-union states and other countries. Wouldn't it be easier to make Lucas County like the other states and countries than to bring in illeagal immigrants er I mean immigrants? Then maybe more residents, at least the ones left here, could start business's without government interferance.
