Low voter turnout due to ACORN problems?

HMMM, just have to wonder if the low turnout for the primaries today might be due to the fact that ACORN is "retrenching", or, hiding (and threatening to sue)...thanks to the series of videos over the past week that has been exposing this organization for what it truely is...You won't find this in the MSM...(Charlie Gibson did not have a clue!). (You Tube,) Beck, Hannity have been on this. Gotta love it! And "God Bless" the intrepid "20 somethings" that thought this up and carried it out. There is hope, my friends!

Eliminating Toledo Income Tax - by Jim Moody

One of the biggest obstacles Toledo has in attracting businesses and wage earners to this city is the income taxes charged. As long as Toledo has one of the highest income tax rates in the region, businesses will continue to go to other counties and townships and states. As long as Toledo continues to have one of the highest income taxes in the region, well paid wage earners will continue to flee the city. The proof is quite evident in the growth of Wood County and in our suburbs.

The Rape of Europe

The Rape of Europe: "No Means No!"

What part of no don't the elitists in Brussels understand? Don't the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels speak Irish, Dutch or French? Why are they driven to go from gross sexual imposition to the RAPE of Europe? "No means no!"

As Europe goes, so goes the world.

The country I want back

The country I want back
SOME of the people who have been appearing at town hall meetings lately say they want to take back their country. Me too.

However, I am left wondering what country they want to take back.

Barbara Sears: Government Should Follow Small Business Example

If there is one thing I’ve learned from raising a family and running a small business, it’s that spending more than you can afford will ruin you financially. And if Ohio’s government were a business we would certainly be bankrupt.

Bring civility back to talk on radio

Bring civility back to talk on radio
Toledo Blade Letters to the Editor
Mayoral candidate Ben Konop can be commended for saying he chooses to take the high ground and not respond to the abuse being dished out by WSPD Radio. The issue that really should be looked at has less to do with Mr. Konop than the cynical and condescending commentary masquerading as news that is so frequently heard on WSPD.

End the Arab occupation of the Temple Mount!

Konop and Block: A path to decline

[From the Development News Editorial - 9-2009]
The upcoming Toledo mayoral election will determine if John Robinson Block, The Blade publisher and editor-in-chief, retains his dominant impact on direction and control of affairs in the city. Block needs an individual in the mayor’s office who will obey his direction. Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop is a politician and mayoral candidate that offers the newspaper and Block a chance to increase their power and control.

Thoughtful post on Ted Kennedy

From Maggie Thurber's blog:

Sen. Edward Kennedy passed away Monday.

I offer my sympathies to his family and friends over his loss. Having lost an uncle to brain cancer, I know first-hand what a dreadful disease it is. So I'm grateful he is no longer suffering its effects - and that he had a full and good life.

I was not a fan of Sen. Kennedy. It will come as no surprise to readers of this blog that I rarely agreed with any of his positions and was quite opposed to many of his proposals.

Strong Words to Obama from Doug Giles

I love this guy's style!

Obama Makes a Political Booty Call to the Church
Doug Giles
Saturday, August 22, 2009

What’s this? Obama now needs the Church—which he’s been regularly dissing—to come to his aid and help “prod Congress” to pass his Health Scare Deform Swill? Well, La-dee-da. In the words of the angry and bad serial dater, Alanis Morissette, “Isn’t it ironic, don’t ‘cha think? A little too ironic, and yeah, I really do think.”

In America, Crazy Is a Preexisting Condition

I highly recommend this article by historian Rick Perlstein of the Washington Post. Take note of the role the media has played by reporting on the wild claims made--a sort of he said, she said reporting,

And we think that Carty is nuts!

Another doosie of a story on Drudge...kinda makes you wonder what is really in that kool-aide that these people are drinking! And we think that Carty is nuts...Sen Stabenow can feel global warming while flying!?!?

Bob Latta on healthcare

As Congress begins its August district work period, the House of Representatives continues to debate the health care proposal introduced by the House Democrat Leadership. H.R. 3200 is a massive overhaul of our nation's health care system that will put the federal government in control of the health care of millions of Americans.

Peter Silverman's Letter-to-the-Editor Toledo Blade

Toledo council has vision, principle
Imagine a business that's spending more than it makes, and whose customers are unhappy with the quality of the company's product and who are leaving to buy from competitors. An adviser recommends that the business raise prices and let product quality slide. Bad advice. Yet that's essentially the advice The Blade urges on Toledo City Council by criticizing council for failing to support the mayor's plan to fix the deficit by raising taxes.

The seven dirty words - Warning, Contains Harsh Language.

The seven dirty words are seven English-language words that comedian George Carlin first listed in 1972 in his monologue "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television". Below is a list of the words and alternate to help avoid the profanity filter!

The words are:             Alternates:

Justice for Carty

The Toledo Blade
July 30, 2009
FROM the beginning, there was nothing honest about the attempt to recall Mayor Carty Finkbeiner just two months before his term would have ended. In the end, it was simple justice when the state's high court ended that misguided effort. (MORE) http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090730/OPINION02...

TFP: where's the editorial oversight?

This was sent to Michael Miller, editor of the Toledo Free Press for his irresponsible oversight of the story about Kevin Milliken's divorce records. This orginal post was removed from the facebook by Miller as well as from the comments posts on the orginal Free Press story. I guess you can comment, unless you call the editor's oversight into question. Feel free to forward with a SHAME ON MICHAEL MILLER tag!!
