On the 20-year anniversary of his groundbreaking masterpiece "Roger & Me," Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" comes home to the issue he's been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans. But this time the culprit is much bigger than General Motors, and the crime scene is far wider than Flint, Michigan.

On Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 9:00AM there will be a "special board meeting" at the Thurgood Marshall Building. The topic to be discussed is the "Superintendent Search."

TPS Board sorts through the big issues:

1) Budget and Cost Cutting – Board will be meeting on March 3rd at 5:30 to review the list of budget cuts. Then they will hold a public hearing surrounding those cuts on March 15 or 17 at Start High School. Cuts will be adopted at the March 23rd meeting.

Mayor Bell came to our neighborhood meeting last night. He wants to get the money he says is owed by red light runners. He said that within 30 days , the city would begin to impound / tow autos of those who have not paid these fines. He gave out a handout of his top level administration staff and salaries. It shows his staff to be smaller than before his taking office. Despite salary increases of some, his handout showed 276,000 $ less in total staff salary than before he took office.

I recently had a letter of opinion published in the Blade. In it, I asked why liberals wanted us to butt out of other country's business (regarding Iraq and the Bush years) but now they want to get involved in rebuilding Haiti.

I have since received several hateful, profanity laced letters mailed to my home by liberal Blade readers who obviously didn't enjoy their morning breakfast after reading my letter.

This begs the question, why does the Blade list the name of the street an opinion writer lives on? What's the point?

A note to the hateful libs who sent letters to my home:

Is it right that our country is bankrupt but is borrowing one hundred million from China to give to Haiti? China which has a bounty of eight hundred billion of the U.S. treasury is donating a miserly one million, go figure?

Is anybody else having issues with Buckeye cable Internet being down or does anyone know if there is a problem?

The following letter was sent to our ex-Mayor. He never responded. This is an issue I hope all Toledoans would be concerned about. I called 911 about a crime and the Police never showed up!

I am hoping someone in this city will find out why the Police/Vice Squad did not show up.

I am writing in response to a 911 call I made the weekend of September 18-20th.
I called 911 to report a crime in progress here in the apartment building where I live.

The county commissioners denied him this request . He didn't want to pull someone off the street to do this . That's what one of our union officers said tonight at union meeting tonight. But what I want to know is , why didn't Skeldon just say this on the radio? Why didn't he defend himself?
He served the people who work on the streets well . He always responded quickly to our calls

Under pressure from friends and union colleagues for buying foreign, Lucas County Commissioner Pete Gerken said yesterday he has taken his lumps and returned his wife's Christmas gift to the auto dealership.

"The car is back at the dealer," said Mr. Gerken, a Democrat and retired United Auto Workers official who worked for 30 years for Jeep and DaimlerChrysler.

Recently listening to 105 FM Toledo radio I caught 3 hours on a Saturday of Taylor KIA and The Appliance Center of Maumee on a mutual promotion together. Immediately I thought of all the people I know who buy from the Appliance Center. Most of these people look to buy local and many are union auto workers who could easily buy from the big box Best Buy.So why is the Appliance Center of Maumee promoting foreign KIA cars that employ minimal people in Toledo? Does the owner know loyalty starts at home?

Mike announced his fundraiser dinner at our Arlingtion neighborhood group tonite. I asked him why he was raising funds , he said it is political , that there is discretion on how to give these funds out . He said for example, he could make a donation to our neighborhood group. I don't think I like the idea , tho I may attend . Mike is approachable , he helps our neighborhood. He said he holds two fundraisers per year. He said other council members will be there.

Local mail carriers voted to make dog warden Tom Skeldon an honorary letter carrier at tonight 's meeting. He is invited to next month's meeting to receive his title and a plaque .
Tom gives annual training at local post offices on dog awareness and dog safety. His crew gives priority to mail carrier calls. He has extracated many mail carriers who have been trapped on porches or threatened by loose dogs .
