For once we are starting to get the real story.

What you read in this article sure is reminiscent of the entire tenure of Sanders as superintendent for TPS. He has rolled out the same game plan in Cleveland. The big difference: news reporters that actually do investigative reporting and look at all sides of the issue.
"The board of education members I've spoken to found him to be an honorable and trustworthy superintendent," says Ignazio Messina, who covers schools for The Toledo Blade.
I wonder if Messina has asked current board members Fisher and Torres and former school board member Anita Lopez whether they view Sanders as honorable and trustworthy or is this just a case of selective memory or perhaps amnesia.
And then we have this, "He's been very open," says Lisa Sobecki, chairwoman of Toledo's Parent Congress. "He's worked closely with parents in our district. The different programs he put in place in Toledo have worked well." Ask the rank and file parents in Toledo that have worked with Sanders. I don
This guy has got the party line down, doesn't he? He still thinks that Sanders is a good guy - though, because Lisa Sobecki said so.
How does that woman sleep at night?
Hrmm! Well, knowing this information, and with knowing about the seemingly-frequent absence of Sykes from his office (8th floor, Fifth Third Center, 606 Madison Ave), then I'm pretty sure now that that means one or the other options is likely. My base opinion-theory is that Sykes is going to follow along with Sanders and setup shop in the Cleveland Public Schools system. Within that basis:
1. Sykes might be "fired in place", hence given time to find another job without losing face (or Fifth Third Bank being sued for racial discrimination). In this case, he'll find a highly-rated administrator ($110K+benefits, easy) job in the CPS.
2. Sykes might be in "paid time off" mode, hence may be spending his time securing the TPS Board for continued bank-industry domination once he leaves, and will eventually run for the CPS Board while also a Fifth Third Bank VP (5/3 has a strong presence in Cleveland).
Like Toledo, Cleveland is a Rusty City and the voters can always be fooled (again, like Toledo) into thinking that all the school buildings need to be torn down and rebuilt. Shall I now start suspecting Sanders and Sykes are card-carrying members of the well-known Ohio construction mafia?
P.S. Given what I've seen and what I've been told, this Ignazio fellow is too comfy with his access to the movers and shakers in the TPS.
P.P.S. I posted a comment to Kotz's article.
Flagg and Urban (guest zero), I'm sorry to tell you that you are knee jerkers. For everyone like you two who disliked Sanders, 5,000 more liked what he did here. He was a change man but your two people ran him out. Now you want more change? You don
Ok, first there was:
For everyone like you two who disliked Sanders, 5,000 more liked what he did here.
Then:
but your two people ran him out.
1 to 5000 opinion and they ran him out?
And a question:
Need I remind you of the public campaign to try and keep Dr. Sanders led by the mayor and BLACK leaders of Toledo.
Why capitalize the word BLACK? Are you now trying to make this a racial issue?
I would hope we would have evolved to a point that we would be capable of leaving race out of these issues. I will move alone that way, in the hopes that this will be all of it in this situation. Such distasteful behavior, I hope that is all of it.
That said, it is highly unlikely that you could pull one name out, that if informed of the outcome of Sanders endeavors here, would approve.
The loss of 1/5 of our students. Massive teacher layoffs, the closing of school buildings and a 19 MILLION dollar budget deficit that has not been satisfactorily explained to date.
Nice try - but some people prefer to examine job performance rather than political hype.
Why don't you politicians and those who support them in their merry games, go and find another playground to play in? Another budget to raid? After all, there has to be a big batch of muck somewhere where it isn't OUR children that suffer.
My son had the highest GPA in his class at TTA and he was admitted with scholarship to Kettering University which is one of the best engineering programs in our area and one of the best mechanical engineering programs in the country - very selective.
Guestnumberone, please explain why you would ever bring my children into this situation and spread such misinformation?
sflagg - where was your son brought into this? Definitely missing something here....
guestnumberone - what is the matter with you?
You stated "Need I remind you of the public campaign to try and keep Dr. Sanders led by the mayor and BLACK leaders of Toledo."
First of all you need to define who are the "Black" leaders of Toledo. The so called "Black' leaders who tried to keep Sanders in Toledo certainly do not lead me and mine and I am as black as they come!!!!!
Since I am one of the five people, I think it would be fair to leave our children out of this equation.
If, for every two who disliked Sanders there were 5000 who liked him why have 10,000 students left the district while Sanders worked his magic?
What is it you don't understand about-- if you don't have students you don't need teachers or schools. So if 5,000 students leave a district do you still need the same amount of teachers you had when you had the 5,000?
... from the Cleveland Scene website:
"I must point out in spirited fashion the marked failure of your due diligence when researching this article.
I note that you pointed out in the article two intensely compromised viewpoints, namely Ignazio Messina and Lisa Sobecki, in order to support your thesis that "[b]ack in Toledo, where Sanders came from, they'll tell you he's a real guy". Messina is a so-called reporter employed by the Toledo Blade newspaper, who is being currently used as a cheerleader for the Toledo Public Schools establishment in order to support exactly the kind of fraudulent programs that you decried in you article. Sobecki herself is a shill for the current TPS Board majority, and rumors have it that she's running for the Board itself in order to continue the process of running the same fraudulent programs (which again, you derided).
For the marginalized but representative view of the TPS Board, the TPS itself, and that run-out-of-town scumbag Sanders, kindly point your browser to www.SwampBubbles.com (and as well, the archive of the progenitor website www.ToledoTalk.com). The "Swamp Bubbles" website (so named from Toledo's old and regional moniker of the "Black Swamp") is run by Chris Myers, who is a failed candidate for the TPS Board from the last election. The Toledo Blade likes to pretend that our concerns don't exist, but the least YOU could do is not continue parroting the falsified party line of the Toledo Public Schools establishment ... even if that parroting suits your larger thesis that Sanders is an anti-public-participation twit who should have never left a classroom for an office."
From guestnumberone's post above: "Flagg has been an "activist" for 11 years since his son crapped out of a high-performing TPS program."
FYI - I became an activist in 1995 when a friend of mine had a problem at our elementary school and we started to work on it. My son attended TTA from 1998 until 2001. So any experience at TTA had nothing to do with why I am doing what I am doing today.
