Does electing a Republican for president mean war with Iran? Paul Krugman, in a recent column "Unreasoning fear is taking over Republican campaign rhetoric", states that frontrunner Rudy Giuliani is taking foreign policy advise from neoconservative Norman Podheretz, who wants to start bombing Iran

Republicans need to get back on track and return to their conservative sources: less government and less interference in people's lives here and countries abroad. They have strayed way beyond their core principles.
Scahill's Blackwater book is very entertaining and informative.
A potential pitfall to privatizing the military was brought up in the description of the Fallujah incident where 4 Blackwater mercenaries were killed. Apparently, the contract with the gov't was changed so that the vehicles that Blackwater was driving around didn't have to be armored. And instead of taking 6 mercenaries on the mission to Fallujah, they only took 4. Both of these moves were used in order to save cost and maximize profits (which any corporation would of course try to do). So these guys were killed, and what happened next? The military sends troops into Fallujah to clear the place (revenge also?). This incident enflames the insurgency, and is a turning point in the occupation.

Is it naive to think that there's a significant difference in what will happen no matter which of the incestuous political elites gets elected? YES.
Go ahead and vote for Hillary, she'll fix everything alright. Better yet, vote for a 3rd party loser.
It has been along time since anyone has called me naive. Are all the presidential candidates part of an elite class? Yes. Will any one of the candidates change this system? No. Are all third party candidates losers? Yes, mainly because individuals with limited fatalistic mind sets, as you seem to have, hinder this nation's growth. It was third party cadidates that brought issues like a woman's right to vote and abolition to national prominence.
Elitism in a cultural phenomenon that even you have probably participated in. Have you ever gotten a special deal on an item because you happen to know somebody? Change begins with you.
100% correct, Pete, and that's why RHINOS like DeWanker were disposed of last year, although the corruption angle (Noe and others)certainly hurt, too. In Oheilo, the name TAFT was enough alone to destroy the party for at least a decade. And deservedly so, I might add.
