Recall Carty Push

Recall Carty Supporters,

We want to do 2 corners this Saturday for the drive through signing... Dorr and Secor and Secor and Laskey. I would also like to be able to extend these hours longer than just noon to 4. If you can help, please email me - thomasjmo@yahoo.com or call 419-475-1894. This is the easiest petitioning you will ever do. If you can give an hour or 2, I need you to help. Don't expect someone else to fill this is in.

I have emailed the organizers of the Rib-off at the Lucas County Fairgrounds. I have not had any contact back yet, but I will let you know if petitioning here is a problem. Again, I need everybody to help that can.

NW Ohio Rib-Off, Lucas County Fairgrounds
Thursday 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Friday 11:30 am to 11:00 pm
Saturday 11:30 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday 11:30 am to 6:00 pm

Christ the King Church Festival
4100 Harvest Lane
Toledo, OH 43623
(West of intersection of Monroe and Secor)
Thursday 5 pm to 11 pm
Friday 5 pm to 11 pm
Saturday 5 pm to 11 pm
Sunday 1 pm to 9 pm

We need your help.

Thanks,

Tom Morrissey

While I neither support or reject your recall efforts, it is of my opinion that your use of this site to solicit volunteers is JUST PLAIN WRONG! That's why you have RECALLCARTY.com. Not everyone on Swampbubbles supports your case and to encroach upon its neutrality in an attempt to garner support because of the recent "doggygate" hysteria borders on unehtical.

Contributors to this site have the right to voice their opinions on whether they support "Recall Carty" or not, suggest that people sign your petitions and their reasoning for such. But, this site is not an open marketplace where you should be actively recruiting volunteers to "JOIN" your cause.

...he can post. He is just putting out information. Heck, when it first got going I didn't like the idea of a recall either. I still don't.

I don't know if the mayor's behavior warrants a recall, but I am a little more leery of him than I once was. He seems to have gone from "eccentricities" to "unsound judgement". And since that judgement can affect the way the city is run I feel he should be subject to recall. Luckily, a recall isn't like an impeachment. We're not talking about "high crimes and misdemeanors" but rather "is his judgement sound enough to administer the city?"

you can turn it off. In this case, you don't have to read it. And this is an open marketplace so to speak of ideas, opinions and information.

Whether you support the recall or not, this is happening in our community, it is subject to conversation and opinion and there is information in the post.

Should we also not let candidates and politicians or their surrogates post? Should those that have a cause and are looking for support not be allowed a voice here to recruit others in their efforts?

Let them post! We don't have to volunteer or agree - just another opinion on this subject.

As to Thomas, whether I like the recall or not, he has gotten off his duff not just spouted off in an online forum, he has engaged himself in the process and our community and we need public engagement in what is happening in our community and how it can improve. I applaud the effort of a young man that takes action even if I or others may see it as misguided or disagree.

When there is this amount of injustice created by the people in charge of our government we should be able to use any legal means necessary to correct the injustices. The unjust people are not ethical and the term ethical is subject to interpretation. What is unethical is for citizens to sit by with their thumbs up their butts and continue to allow people like Czarlton and his henchmen violate the rights of our citizens and throw birds at charters and laws. Tom Morrisey, I have no problem with you recruiting on this site. You doing so gives me some important information that I can use to help the recall effort and also recruit others. For those who don't like your recruiting efforts on this site, I say to them do the same thing I do when I don't like something that is posted. I ignore it.

Whether you support the recall or not, this is happening in our community, it is subject to conversation and opinion
I DO NOT have an issue with people voicing their opinions about any issues on this site. I myself have voiced opinions in opposition to Carty. Conversations and Opinions about a subject are what this site is all about, but...

there is information in the post
the only information contained in Thomas' post revolves around his asking for volunteers and where they should show up. He does not include any opinions or supporting context.

Should we also not let candidates and politicians or their surrogates post?
Candiates should be allowed to post and explain their stance on the issues. However, they should not be allowed to recruit campaign staff from the site.

Should those that have a cause and are looking for support not be allowed a voice here to recruit others in their efforts?
You misunderstand the point I am making. Anyone with a cause should be able to post here and stir debatable conversation. But, recruiting to their cause should be held to other mediums unless explicity approved by and notated as such by the forum administrator or any other media directors such as radio stations or TV.

I am not against Mr. Morrissey or his effort even though I do not support it. He does have the right to the actions he has taken and I also applaud him for that. I am happy to see when our young people are taking an active role in the guidence of this nation when so many haven't a clue. I just believe that there is a right way and a wrong way to recruit members to your cause acting as pseudo employess (whether paid or unpaid) and an online solicitation from a neutral site without the expressed permission of the administrator is not the right way. IMO

I don't think this is a problem, although I can understand the concern. Political and media announcements with links to candidate or media web sites are welcome.

...shows the right way to do it. The way of bliss :) Posting nirvana. An equalizing of the musical spheres. Cuts the Gordian knot of political b.s. Sanity restored.

Political and media announcements with links to candidate or media web sites are welcome.

Since Thomas post has no link to his website but rather a direct solicitation on this site and you are allowing it, does that mean Swampbubbles is endorsing his Recall Carty campaign?

Just curious

His email link, which is the same as the recall carty email.. And a phone number. Also the same as the recall site.

And just becasue SB doesn't object to the recall doesn't mean it supports it either. It's being nutral.

Hey the mayor's spokesmen post on Swamp Bubbles, so does Darlene Fisher for TPS. I think its cool that different political viewpoints can be posted as well as what accomplishments have been made for the city.

I think the city adminstration should post updates, viewpoints, townhall summaries, what-if scenarios, and policy polls / community feedback. With this data they can mesh into their other voice of community reports.

...as Tom Morrissey is doing.

KrazyKat, while I understand the concern, I would encourage candidates or groups to post whatever they wanted regarding announcements and requests. I don't see too much difference between what Thomas posted vs. a press release from a candidate regardless of the request. Tom posted it more as a personal plea instead of a press release, but it would be the same if he reworded it. There are lots of things on this site, it does not mean they are endorsed. I welcome Carty or Brian S. to come here and post announcements or other groups too. Also, I applaud Tom because he is doing everything in his right to work within the system and for a citizen to do this, regardless of the position, I always encourage those who become civically engaged. I have been very liberal in the postings by allowing public issues to be highlighted-to the detriment of some personal relationships-but being the Recall Carty effort is a news, politics, and a specific event, and falls in the mission so I don't see any issues with it.

Jim, I respectfully disagree about what can be posted here. I see it as a vehicle to disseminate information, opinions, etc. and recruiting or posting information as Tom did is information about the political processes in our community. If I am not interested, I just move on. But I think it is a moot point as only the webmaster can make that decision. Cheers

between an email link and a website link. The email link suffices as a tool for direct solicitation while a link which redirects a visitor to a supporting website serves as a road map for additional information. I do not believe his phone number should have been listed either. Serves the same purpose as an email address.

But I guess the webmaster has made his call.

was not with postings of political nature, candidates, or opinions. What bothered me was the solicitatation for volunteers to a partisan campaign on a neutral site. I guess SB has now opened itself up for all candidates to post recruitment announcements (instead of their viewpoints on the issues) for their campaigns here. So I invite all political candidates who may be suffering from a lack of volunteers to come to SB and beg for supporters to join your campaign.

Tom Morrissey, a religious and political extremist, seeks to disrupt progress inducing plans for Northwest Ohio. While I don't agree with some of Carty's and other mayors' political decision, I do think it time to stop being bickering babies and do some across-the-aisle actionable politics. Tom, It's time for *you* to move on.
