This week Jack Smith will be on Wednesday to discuss his run for the House seat currently held by Marcy Kaptur, Friday Rich Iott will be in to do the same. Should be fun.

I sent the following E-mail to Fred at WSPD.
"Magna Toledo expansion: The jobs will pay an average of $13.46 an hour for assembly workers and $19.46 an hour for skilled-trades workers, city officials said.
WOW! How many families will be able to support their families on that wage? Those jobs will pay no taxes to support your Toledo government."

Mayoral candidate Ben Konop can be commended for saying he chooses to take the high ground and not respond to the abuse being dished out by WSPD Radio. The issue that really should be looked at has less to do with Mr. Konop than the cynical and condescending commentary masquerading as news that is so frequently heard on WSPD.

Right shuffles race card into ‘stealth reparations’

I thought slavery reparations were a dead issue by now. Glenn Beck set me straight.
The radio talk show host and Fox News Channel star says President Barack Obama’s proposed health care overhaul is really “stealth reparations,” a form of racial payback in Beck’s world by another name.
I am not making this up. On his radio program last month and in a video floating around the Web, Beck argues that Obama’s announced opposition to reparations is only a smoke screen for his “stealth” support. (MORE)

Armed deputy guards are providing security for Mayoral Candidate Ben Konop. According to an article in the Toledo Blade as well as being reported by WTOL News, WSPD radio host Brian Wilson broadcasted Konop's personal cell phone number over the air.

In addition, a man approached Konop inside Government Center, and he had a knife in his waist band.

Replacing the WSPD ratings hit Mayor Carty Finkbeiner has now moved into high gear. The new target, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has now been targeted by the libertarian thugs at extreme radio. Fort Apache has circled the wagons rallied the angry white males and unleashed the dogs of Northwest Ohio to any political rally of ear shot.

County safe from layoffs -- for now

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners got some harsh news Tuesday, but employees across the county can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.
The board now may have a plan that can eliminate - at least this year - layoffs.

I am hearing from some other bloggers that there is going to be big changes at WSPD.
Has anyone else heard anything?

Okay so 3 years including this year, 2 year pay freeze, last year 3 and a half percent increase, overtime money will be held until March 2010-you can trade for time off though...other details on WSPD at top of the hour news.

Thursday morning both Terry Beil and Dave Schulz will be in studio to talk about the Nine Is Fine movement..Dave is of course for and Terry is starting a campaign to oppose. Should be fun, the interview starts at 7:30

The WSPD newsroom is reporting that this morning the Ohio Supreme Court handed down a ruling on the validity of cities requiring employees to reside within the city limits. The court has ruled that municipalities CANNOT require employees to "reside in any specific area of the state".
Dan Wagner will be my guest on Thursday morning to discuss the local implications. WSPD news will have reaction from the city.

Brian and Maggie will pick up this story later this afternoon on WSPD, and WSPD news will have the full story but here's the part I aired this morning.

I heard that Cassie Wilson resigned. I wonder if this option was presented to her in lieu of Clear Channel's axe?

Fred and Meghan were the only radio people at the board meeting this morning , and also at the presentation by the airport which followed it. We have audio and commentary during WSPD newscasts this afternoon and will discuss it tomorrow morning of Fred LeFebvre and The Morning News beginning at 5:30a on 1370 WSPD.

I managed to listen to Mag on WSPD a bit today-toward the end of the show. I hereby vote to give her her own talk program. She even SOUNDS hot!! And makes a lot of sense, as well. ;^)
