I was not sent this directly, but wanted to publish it here. I am a happy customer of Tireman service centers. The local company's tire prices are very competitive and they back their warranties. I know this from the experiences I have had.

Haiti aid: China one million vs U.S. one hundred million
Is it right that our country is bankrupt but is borrowing one hundred million from China to give to Haiti? China which has a bounty of eight hundred billion of the U.S. treasury is donating a miserly one million, go figure?
Detroit with 50% unemployment and a Michigan state on the verge of bankruptcy has its Nonprofits organizing Aid to Haiti.

Public school teacher absenteeism declines when principals have more control
I thought this is worth mentioning, especially here in Toledo.
====
ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Public school teachers took less time off when principals had more flexibility to dismiss them without completing elaborate documentation or attending a hearing, one of two new University of Michigan studies shows.
Two papers authored by Brian Jacob, a professor at the U-M Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, examined a policy change in the Chicago Public School system in which principals were given complete autonomy to dismiss probationary teachers.

Goldman Sachs senior executives are arming themselves with New York gun permits, according to Alice Schroeder on Bloomberg.com. The banksters “are now equipped to defend themselves if there is a populist uprising against the bank.”

WSPD town hall health care forum
WSPD and other sponsors have rescheduled their original meeting which was supposed to happen last week. They will be presenting both sides of the debate. Health care professionals, business owners and insurance reps will be on hand to discuss both sides of the debate. Elected officials from Ohio and southeast Michigan have been invited, but we do not know who has confirmed. Marcy Kaptur will not be in attendance, according to Brian Wilson this afternoon.

Policyholders could pay more under Obama plan
Policyholders could pay more under Obama plan
By TOM MURPHY and LINDA A. JOHNSON (AP) – 7 hours ago
If President Barack Obama gets what he wants in his health care plan — covering all Americans and barring insurers from denying coverage — some analysts say individuals could wind up paying higher premiums.
The Obama plan would impose new costs on insurance companies, which would probably then raise the prices customers pay for coverage. Employers also would likely pass on some of their higher costs to employees.

Sweep out current Y leadership
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090827/OPINION03...
In 1959, a country schoolboy's family moved to Toledo's Old West End. There were no creeks and woodlots for youthful rambles, but there was a downtown YMCA and a wonderful huge library. That "Y" was my haven for swimming, wrestling, and Saturday "day" programs that included serial movies. The cost was nominal enough that a kid's family could afford the dollar or so.

GM, benefitting from 'cash for clunkers' program, is boosting production in Michigan and Ohio
"General Motors Co., benefiting from the Obama administration’s “cash for clunkers” program, is boosting production at car plants in Ohio and Michigan, people familiar with the matter said.
The ramp-up is part of a broader increase that may be announced this week, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the schedule isn’t public." (continued)
New online option for reinstating Ohio licenses
The Toledo Blade and AP are reporting that the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is moving into the digital age. Now if they could just put all services under one roof, like Michigan and most other states do...
Ohio motorists whose licenses have been suspended may now make payment online to have their driving privileges reinstated.

MI Sex Offender
Why can I not find George Kennedy in either the Ohio or the Michigan sex offender sites? I'm just curious if this man is a child pedifiler or did something stupid in his younger years and has that label for life because of it.
Was he from another state?
