Condi Rice signed an agreement today to station missiles in Poland. Supposedly aimed at Iran, the installation of these missiles just a few miles from the Russian border serves mainly to enrage the Russians, who see it as part of a grander scheme to encircle Russia.

We warned you

Don't say we didn't warn you. First, it was alcohol and smoking bans. Now it's fast food. The nannies just won't let up until they can regulate or ban anything that doesn't fit into their Weltanschauung. "The Los Angeles City Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting construction of new fast-food restaurants in a 32-square-mile area inhabited by 500,000 low-income people."

County cuts rat control in favor of smoking police

County Health director David Grossman is cutting a rat control position because of lack of funding. In the meantime, Grossman is pressing ahead with his state-unfunded enforcement of smoking in bars. "They aren't getting away with it," Grossman stated. Looks like Grossman's jihad against smokers is taking front seat to rat eradication.

The Supreme Penalty for Rape

Tagged:  •    •

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case about whether—for the first time in decades—a criminal can be executed for a crime that isn't murder. Patrick Kennedy was convicted in 2004 for the rape of a child, his 8-year-old stepdaughter, and the state of Louisiana contends that his crime is tantamount to murder and worthy of death.

Minnesota Public Education: Taxpayers funding Islamic Religious School

Tagged:  •    •

The Minnesota Board of Education is allowing a taxpayer funded "public" school to keep operating even though its clearly a religious Islamic school.

Of course, if this were a Christian school getting funded by tax dollars, all hell would be breaking loose. Why the double standard?

A Waste of Police Resources

The recent raid of Platinum Showgirls by three undercover police officers and a health department inspector, then by "a half dozen uniformed police officers", is a shocking waste of Toledo's stretched police resources. What was the purpose of the raid? Drugs, guns, white slavery, felony crime? No, they were there to bust smokers!
