No wonder labor is so much cheaper in other countries. In Columbia, if workers feel they are mistreated or taken advantage of and want to unionize, they're simply killed.

We have done an extensive study of The Toledo Plan and feel that it should be abolished as it is supposed to rid the school system of “bad” veteran teachers through evaluation, instead it is being used to rid the school system of first year teachers through peer mentoring. Its target, primarily, is the non traditional first year teacher.

Chrysler announced plans Monday to invest nearly $28 million in its Toledo Machining Plant.

"Chrysler's investments in the Toledo area are rooted in our faith that we can keep good-paying manufacturing jobs in America as long as government, our unions and our companies all pull together for the common good," Chrysler President and Vice Chairman Tom LaSorda said in a statement.

I came across this blogger's recent conversation with Steven Steel. I do not know who this blogger is and I don't even think I have seen him at school functions, so this is a conversation with a normal citizen. Other than the shear rudeness of the conversation, I think it provides some insight into Steel's beliefs.

If you did not hear on 1370 WSPD or on Fox 36, the Toledo Free Press will be tackling Lucas County Democrats who violate party bi-laws by contributing to non-endorsed democrats. Some of the questions that were asked were if the D's allow them to violate the contributions without sanctions, then the party is a party of men, not rules.

SOUTH TOLEDO -- 'Tis the season for Christmas cards, but South Toledo residents are getting some very unique ones that are not full of holiday cheer.

I heard a high level police officer talk this evening (I won't mention the name). He was saying they are a tad short of manpower. While almost every city is, this is not abnormal. He was saying they could use a little more manpower, but if nothing is done to hire new recruits, they will have a serious problem in 1 to 2 years from now.

DUDLEY, N.C. - Ben Grady didn't take to Baldemar Velasquez. The middle-age farmer didn't see any need for Velasquez's labor union. Then Velasquez laid some winning lines on Grady.

"We want to work with the farmers. We want to help you, because we know that without you we don't have work," Velasquez said, and Grady said he welcomed such words.

This Blows! And I suppose that Carty will blame someone else. Toledo just got bent over and screwed. Not to worry though, just like a "john", we paid for it and will continue to pay for it for decades to come.

Sweetheart deals not in union pacts

Your Sept. 27 editorial titled "No more sweetheart deals" could not have been more incorrect in both its facts and its conclusions.

When labor negotiations between the City of Toledo and AFSCME Local 7 reached an impasse in 1996, a factfinder was selected to hear both sides and issue a report.

"TIMES are tough in Toledo and everyone should expect to have to make sacrifices for the greater good of the community, and that includes city workers represented by the Teamsters union.

An appeals court has ruled that the city of Toledo's collective bargaining agreement with its largest union requires it to shoulder the cost of the increase in the employees' share of state-mandated pension contributions.

The Teamsters Union said Wednesday it will ask a federal appeals court to block the Bush administration's plan to allow Mexican trucks to carry cargo anywhere in the United States.

The union said it has been told by officials in the Transportation Department's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that the first Mexican trucks will be coming across the border on Saturday.

Apparently this was posted, written by, Ray Kest some time ago. Does anyone know the story behind this, how true it is, whether this guy is still lurking around the Lucas County Democrat Party, and possibly how deep this sentiment runs in the party?
