WASHINGTON - A federal judge yesterday rejected President Bush's contention that senior White House advisers are immune from subpoenas, siding with Congress' power to investigate the executive branch and handing a victory to Democrats probing the dismissal of nine federal prosecutors.
The months-long battle between Toledo Municipal Court judges and Toledo city officials over the court's budget is now in the hands of another set of judges.
The seven municipal court judges filed a petition in Ohio's 6th District Court of Appeals Thursday against the city, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, and the 12 members of city council.

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Supreme Court yesterday agreed to mull the issue of whether cities may require their employees to live within their borders.
The court agreed to hear appeals of rulings involving the cities of Lima and Akron that struck down a 2006 state law prohibiting residency mandates when it comes to most city employees.

Fred LeFebvre interviewed Judge Tim Kuhlman this morning about how talks are going between the municipal courts and the administration. Fred LeFebvre was told that the talks aren't going very well at all and that council member Michael Collins doesn't understand the way the system works when it comes to funding the court system.
Parents of the approximately 200,000 home-schooled children in California are reeling from the possibility that they may have to shutter their classrooms — and go back to school themselves — if they want to continue teaching their own kids.

Breaking news story from the Toledo Free Press that Brian Schwartz has hired legal representation in relation to his being suspended for 15 days without pay for unprofessional conduct and other possible incidents of his rights being violated by both Mayor Carty Finkbeiner and Chief of Staff Bob Reinbolt. He’s hired local attorney R. Kevin Greenfield.

After stonewalling a civil rights investigation for 10 months, the Finkbeiner Administration has decided to have Toledoans pay $360 an hour for outside legal counsel as the discrimination case heads to federal court.
Laws and Gun Laws are only for law abiding people. Criminals don’t care about laws. And Ohio’s gun laws are just about stupid! Lets face it. In Ohio if a law abiding person takes all the classes and training and passes all. He or she can get a permit to carry a concealed hand gun.
