Unemployment rises in 30 states in January
By CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER, AP Economics Writer Christopher S. Rugaber, Ap Economics Writer – 2 hrs 17 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Unemployment rose in 30 states in January, the Labor Department said Wednesday, evidence that jobs remain scarce in most regions of the country.
The data is somewhat better than December, when 43 states reported higher unemployment rates, but worse than November, when rates fell in most states.

LCCS MADE MY LIFE HE$L-
I am a lot of things, but bad mom was never one of them., I'll try not to write a book- use only facts and truths I can provide evidence of and ask readers a few questions at the end!
I left a very abusive relationship about two years ago-im talking its shocking im still alive. I have restraining orders on this man and do all i can to keep things civil and at a distance. the juice of the story is i had a baby in may 2009 at which time a LCCS investigator came do to the past domestic violence-ok whatever but we got to talking and tells me if i open a case for family services my son could have protected daycare with my mom being the provider-I WAS FINE WITH THIS so a case was open. June was easy met the caseworker who was gonna get me all the info i neede for my son to be under my moms care for me to work and she made a case plan- and on it was i had to keep up with my sons appointments, get a job, have stable housing, but it also had some real personal information-like the psycho ex husband is not the babies father and he didnt know there was a baby(that would set him off) to be brief from here im just gonna lay it down. Somehow some way they sent him copies of all of this!

What is the real issue?
Is it a black /white issue, is it a male/female issue, is it a liberal /conservative issue, is it a Republican/ Democrat issue or is it really a black male president issue, that is causing the rabid, frenzy of provocative prose coming from the right AND left against President Barack Obama? Is racism so deeply rooted in American's culture that some are losing perspective as to what the issues really are?
Did white America have a "Kumbaya" moment on November 5, 2008 only to wake up on January 22, 2009 with a black man as president and say, "oh, hell to the naw?"

Toledo Public School Board Meeting-Transparency Where?
I witnessed the Toledo Public School Board of Education meeting tonight and it was a barrel of laughs, around the "horseshoe" many concerns by myself and other spectators and maybe violations of the sunshine laws, by the board members. But then what do you expect, that was how Three for Children was born, Larry Sykes (he's baacck), Deborah Barnett and Steve Steel.

Where did the KnowledgeWorks money go?
Today Robert Vasquez apologized to the people who had been tarnished by the secret investigations, in attempt to push the the atrocities under the rug and move on. He stated, "On behalf of the board, I want the taxpayers of this community to know that we have been reviewing the auditor's reports, and we find these actions to be completely unacceptable," Mr. Vasquez said.
Breaking News: UPDATED: Steve Riddle principal of Leverette Middle School resigns.
It has been disclosed on 11News that Steve Riddle has resigned as principal of Leverette Middle School. Now maybe, depending on who they put in as principal, this school will have leadership that is pro children. Out with the child predators, in with the child educators giving the students safe passage to a successful life.
It took awhile to eliminate this principal, how many children were damaged in the process?

An Interesting Story Missed by Glass City Jungle
"A former UT dean has threatened Glass City Jungle operator and Toledo Free Press fact checker Lisa Renee Ward with legal action and is accusing her of racial bias," read the words from this weeks Toledo Free Press.
http://www.Toledofreepress.com/2009/11/25/former-ut-dean-threatens-legal...
I find it very interesting that the Blade is castigated for not reporting "the news" and Lisa Renee has not reported this "newsworthy" story on her blog Glass City Jungle. Sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. Or the pot not calling the kettle anything, just ignoring it.

John Foley for another year.
It is unbelievable that the Toledo Board of Education would give John Foley another contract to destroy the public school system in Toledo, Ohio. What were they thinking?
The school system is in for some dark days and they need a leader that will make changes a priority, not a reactionary process.

The Toledo Blade endorsements
The Toledo Blade endorsements were placed in the cartoon section of the paper today, on the Pages of Opinion where Kirk usually draws his/her cartoon, which was very appropriate because they were a joke.
The Toledo Blade seems to be very conflicted.

Thoughts On Local Education
It appears that there are too many special interest groups involved in the educational process. Rather than an honest examination of what the playing field is and what has a chance of working, too much time and resources are wasted in trying to do "things right" as defined by a bureaucratic system. Too many resources are also wasted through trying to "win public debates" that are already lost. A system that constantly needs to respond to whatever made the news in The Blade yesterday cannot spend it's resources on the core mission.

Neighborhood residents and students tear gassed after the Start-Central Foorball game.
After hearing the news about Libbey and Bowsher having fights after the foorball games, it is very interesting that Central Catholic's game against Start on Friday night ended the same way. The only difference is that when parents went to pick up their children from the game they (the parents) were tear-gassed. There was no report of this incident that I know of.
There was trouble brewing at the game but the police did not respond until the spectators had left the school and parents were attempting to pick up their children.

Used and Abused by Bernadette Noe in her never ending quest for attention
Hey there, I was surprised to see yet another blog entry on the now infamous ex politico wife of Tom Noe, "St. Bernadette", haha, as recently as last July. Just curious how many of you out there have had the experience of having worked for or befriending this woman? How many lasted until the end of their usefulness to this mistress of narcissistic users and been outed by B. Noe. I mean those of you other than her ex?
IF THE AVERAGE PERSON SEXUALLY ASSAULTS SOMEONE, YOU GET THROWN UNDER THE JAIL AND MUST REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER! IF A MEMBER OF TPD DOES IT...THEY GET 3 MONTHS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE!
Is there corruption among the ranks of the Toledo Police Department?
Sgt. Brandon was put back on the police force by an arbitrator after being fired, and is in trouble again after he called a woman a ho, and would not file her police report.
Read about that here:
http://abclocal.go.com/wtvg/video?id=6996832
And now former Toledo officer only gets three months behind bars with 5 years probation, after he put his hand down women's pants and touched and rubbed their private areas, while he was conducting traffic stops.

Karate-chopping judge candidate?
Thought someone would (or wouldn't) appreciate this video clip of local judge candidate Mark Davis breaking bricks in super slow-mo on YouTube. The clip is titled "Attorney Breaking Bricks Slow Motion" and you can go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTqDJDNLoc0
For starters, I really just want to ask "WHY?" But the comments are actually pretty hilarious!
One last thing...did he steal the Van Halen "wings" font for his campaign posters?? Long live VH!!

TFP: where's the editorial oversight?
This was sent to Michael Miller, editor of the Toledo Free Press for his irresponsible oversight of the story about Kevin Milliken's divorce records. This orginal post was removed from the facebook by Miller as well as from the comments posts on the orginal Free Press story. I guess you can comment, unless you call the editor's oversight into question. Feel free to forward with a SHAME ON MICHAEL MILLER tag!!
