It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.
Ironic
Air America goes down in flames....

Another Blade Bash
This time, the daily rag's "culture" critic writes off an entire decade. The only reason to write off a decade in NW Ohio would be due to ignorant "reporters" like this guy who do nothing more than join their colleagues in acting on the publisher's ill-conceived uses of his newspaper to denigrate any and everyone in an area in which he no longer resides. This guy even forgets his own paper's Pulitzer Prize, let alone the numerous other achievements accomplished by area politicians, teachers, coaches, students, researchers, artists and business persons in the face of adversity.

Parallels to FDR's treatment of Business in the 30s
Just read an interesting op-ed piece in Bloomberg by Amity Shlaes that draws parallels between what the Federal Govt is doing to business now and what FDR and company did to business in the 1930's. This is worth the read. Here is the link: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&sid=aAdz7MFnI4X4

Foreigners loving "Cash for clunkers"
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h4OJw5vl4nQapaKrl9XOdf...
A top ten list for the highest selling cars via Cash for Clunkers has been released, and neither of the bailed out companies - GM or Chrysler - are on the list. Ford has the 3rd and 7th spots with the Focus and Escape, and the foreigners are stealing the rest of the Obamabucks. Of course, I have nothing against what we define as a "foreign auto," ( http://thetommorrissey.com/toledo-free-press/without-reservation-save-am... ) I just find it Ironic. Is the "Buy American" crowd upset?

Parking on gravel and grass Downtown
I noticed today that the City of Toledo is setting up a Parking Area in Promenade Park for the 4th of July celebration. Hmmm....I would be suspicious here. Looks like a quick revenue enhancement for the city. If you spot Sue Frederick with ticket book in hand, pull away as quick as possible and cover your license plate so she can't see it!

Social Security Sending Money to the Dead
...On top of the 10 trillion the SSA is short, the geniuses have paid out millions in benefits to dead people, and have erased others from the rolls because they were wrongly marked as deceased.
How much jail time do these folks deserve? They are running a Ponzi scheme 800 times bigger than Madoff, losing millions by sending benefit checks to the dead, and marking living recipients as dead.
If no jail time, these people deserve to be fired and fined...

Flights so cheap, nobody wants them!
Wow.... Just poking around the JetAmerica Website, and it appears that the demand for cheap seats has been grossly overstated.
I've been watching the fares on the new service offered by JetAmerica. When the new flights were announced, the $9 fares became scare after about a week. Not nearly as fast as I expected, since there were only "9 to 19 seats" available at that fare.
But interestingly, the $9 fare fares have returned. Even on the first flight, which generally is filled up with local politicians and media.
Do the recent polls that effectively couch only one option annoy you?

Under Restructuring, GM To Build More Cars Overseas
By Peter Whoriskey
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, May 8, 2009
The U.S. government is pouring billions into General Motors in hopes of reviving the domestic economy, but when the automaker completes its restructuring plan, many of the company's new jobs will be filled by workers overseas.
According to an outline the company has been sharing privately with Washington legislators, the number of cars that GM sells in the United States and builds in Mexico, China and South Korea will roughly double.

Air Force One Photo-Op
NEW YORK (CNN) -- A White House official apologized Monday after a low-flying Boeing 747 spotted above the Manhattan skyline frightened workers and residents into evacuating buildings. Witnesses reported seeing the plane circle over the Upper New York Bay near the Statue of Liberty. The huge aircraft, which functions as Air Force One when the president is aboard, was taking part in a classified, government-sanctioned photo shoot, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
