WSPD's Rhetoric Must Realign With Reality

I had an occasion to listen to WSPD today and really felt the need to comment on the idiotic rhetoric that I heard in the brief time that I listened. I don't know who the commentator was but it did not sound like Brian Wilson (thank God).
The main thrust of his commentary is that everything that has happened in America is the fault of President Barack Obama.

Dateline Temperance Michigan

There is now a bridge in Temperance Michigan. It is over Sterns road. What was once a 18 inch pipe to channel water under Sterns road as a culvert is now a bridge built over a dug out basin of a 100 yds. Its amazing to see what the Federal government can do when it puts it mind to it. It kept some construction workers busy over a month to replace a perfectly good sewage pipe with this Bridge and basin. A little bigger and a Dam could be added to generate power. I wonder if the Bridge will be named, eh!, lets see how about Bridge over Troubled Waters.

Contractual obligations created by Finkbeiner

Question - If I do listen to WSPD in the afternoon it is when Fred and Brian do their part from 5:35 - ___.

They've complained twice at least about Council approving to pay a company for work they performed under a contract entered into by Finkbeiner.

I've never caught the full details of the contract or the work performed, but I guess it was beyond the scope of the Mayor's duties to enter into this contract.

Story out of Perry HS, Massilon, OH.

Just ran across this news story,,, ...those of you that will, go ahead and SHOULD BE UNBIASED...g'nite.

Why isnt the woman who killed the 15 year old girl with her SUV not in jail?

It does not make sense. The investigation is done. It was found that the school bus was stopped with its flashing lights on. Erie is a 2 lane highway so the law requires everyone to stop when a school bus flashing lights are on.

This woman should be charged. Does she know someone and is getting special treatment.
Sure is curious.

Toledo mounted patrol horses boarding cost

I was flabbergasted at the cost of boarding 9 horses at Vail Meadows through the end of the year. If it is, in fact, until the end of the year, what are they charging per month. Standard cost of boarding a horse in this area runs $300-500/month per horse. Did they check with other boarding barns in this area? There are plenty around at affordable prices and quality care. Another example of Toledo throwing taxpayers money right out the window!!

Tea party racism alert!

President Obama's Speech To The Nation's School Children

The silly season has begun in full force with the noise growing louder concerning the airing of the President's speech to the nation's children on Tuesday at noon. What nonsense!
Anthony Wayne's district has decided not to air the speech because of parental concern.
Toledo Public has decided to allow the individual teacher to make the decision as to who shall listen to the speech and who should not listen.

And we think that Carty is nuts!

Another doosie of a story on Drudge...kinda makes you wonder what is really in that kool-aide that these people are drinking! And we think that Carty is nuts...Sen Stabenow can feel global warming while flying!?!?

Mayor rips Toledo City Council for delays on deficit

From the Toledo Blade:

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner fired a salvo of barbs Saturday at Toledo City Council, blasting members in a letter for spending hours on parking problems and "attempting to impress the voters" by reviewing a so-called "groceries for garbage" program instead of dealing with the city's $8.9 million deficit.

Where is the other $20,673 Jon?

In the expose on corruption and vestiges of the Lucas County Republican Party mini-series that ran on Sunday and Monday of this week had a very interesting proclamation by Jon Stainbrook. In the article “Old guard 'left us broke'; Look at books raising more questions” it said:

“Mr. Stainbrook said he has raised nearly $50,000 in cash and in-kind contributions since taking the party reins last year.”

Wasting time and money isnt just an ohio thing.
Who really cares what the offical name is?

....What makes president of council important today is the Mayoral recall on the ballot in November (thank God). If Carty is voted out, we will have a space filler for about a month until the new mayor is sworn in in January. The space filler is the president of council. This person will have to resign his seat, and lose the remainder of his term as he fills in for the recalled mayor.

Given Carty’s dismal numbers, this is likely.

What makes no sense is that Michael Ashford is willing to give up the two years left on his term to be mayor for a month – and a powerless mayor at that.

How Did This Guy Get Released Early?

That former city worker who got his fifteenth DUI (while in a city truck) got released after only serving five months of a two year sentence:

Here is the article about him being sentenced to two years:

There are a few things I don't understand. First, given that he has had a "significant history of contact with the courts," according to the judge, how did he manage to get released so early?

New Garbage Cans

According to the Toledo Blade dated May 14th, starting today until June 8th, citizens can make the choice of what type of trash container that they want to use for the new automatic trash pickup at their homes. The city reccommends the 96 gal. size, however you can notify the city , or pick up the smaller size at the suggested sites. Those who do not want to participate in the recycling program are to call the division of solid waste so that the recycling bins are not delivered to their homes.

Beer Sales Crushed by Bad Economy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite its reputation for being recession-proof, sales of beer plummeted in the fourth quarter of last year.

Using data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, statistician Nate Silver calculated that Americans bought 9.3 percent less alcohol for home consumption last quarter. With wine and spirits only falling off about 1 percent each, that left beer to bear the brunt of the decline at almost 14 percent.

What makes this unusual is that over the last 40 years, alcohol sales haven't had much of a relationship with the overall economic climate, good or bad.
