Wow! Obama as well as the Mayor, Gerken, and the School Board still really don't get it...

Obama still doesn't get it, a Republican 60 seat swing including his previously owned Dem seat in Chicago ,and he gets on TV and says the results of Tuesday election were because we (Obama ) didn’t do enough fast enough. This guy is really out of touch.

Obama's Socialist Advisers Push Immigration Reform to "Create a Governing Coalition For the Long Term"

Why, in a time of high U.S. unemployment, is the Obama Administration seriously considering Rep. Luis Gutierrez's Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity bill which would grant citizenship to up to 20 million illegal immigrants.

The answer has little to do with humanity, national security or prosperity.

It is all about power, raw Democratic socialist power. It is all about 8,000,000 more Democratic Party votes and the creation of a governing coalition for the long term.

Obama gives 2 billion dollars of our tax paying money to a Brazilian oil company to drill in deeper water than BP did. Oh! of course George Soros has a 900 million dollar investment there also. Hmmm.

Ottawa County, elected Officals, signed petition

Does anyone else see what is wrong with this? Elected officals signed a womens petition to get her driver licence back after she kills a boy from her 4th DUI! Her sentence was 10 years in prison and licences suspended for life! Now she wants her licence back! Give me your thoughts.....and if you believe she should never drive again, advocate this to these officals! Especially, Judge Winters in Ottawa County!

New SwampBubbles word restriction

For those SB members unaware of the change, our esteemed webmaster has just recently instituted a language policy that restricts words he evidently finds offensive regarding posts and comments. The thread where it was discovered:

Let opinions and comments be addressed here:

Responding to The Toledo Blade Opinion: "UAW must concede"

What's killing this area is the loss of manufacturing period. If our elected in Washington would not be stuffing their pockets from international sources and would represent all Americans Toledo would not be scape goating the mayor and our police and fire would not be laying off. Blaming the UAW and forcing concessions on hard working American auto workers will not solve this problem but will exacerbate the problems for all working Americans.

Fedor says departure of business + 25 jobs is a victory ! I disagree, and I live in the neighborhood

She says it doesn't fit the Dorr st corridor , and that technology jobs are needed. Pull- a- part said it won't come to Toledo now because of the economy.
Her story is in her March newsletter which is in today's mail to many of her constituants. She says it is a victory for the neighborhood group.
Pull a part gets good reports everywhere it s been, it was going to do cleanup at the Westwood st site.

Should The City Have Entered Negotiations With the Police Unions Last March?

Michael Collins is upset that the city has taken so long to begin negotiations with the police unions, http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090202/NEWS16/90.... If you look at Maggie Thurber’s blog, http://thurbersthoughts.blogspot.com/, there is a link to the 2009 budget which also shows information for 2008. From this I gathered that there were 482.75 officers, and 94.5 sargeants (who may be covered by TPPA), and 331 firefighter/paramedic positions.

City workers pay only 1.5% , city pays 8.5% to pension . Who else gets this kind of benny in tough economy?

With 8 million dollars still in the hole , this cadillac benefit needs to be looked at

Bailed-out banks donating to Obama inauguration

another extravagent inauguration. I thought change and frugality are Obama's mantras.

3rd times the charm

Looks like Toledo caved on the 3rd time COSI was shoved down our throats. I'm disappointed, not that we'll have a science museum but that the same people that controlled our first one will be running this one, that it will be in the same place with no room to grow and expand.

Reviving the cold war

Condi Rice signed an agreement today to station missiles in Poland. Supposedly aimed at Iran, the installation of these missiles just a few miles from the Russian border serves mainly to enrage the Russians, who see it as part of a grander scheme to encircle Russia.

We warned you

Don't say we didn't warn you. First, it was alcohol and smoking bans. Now it's fast food. The nannies just won't let up until they can regulate or ban anything that doesn't fit into their Weltanschauung. "The Los Angeles City Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting construction of new fast-food restaurants in a 32-square-mile area inhabited by 500,000 low-income people."

County cuts rat control in favor of smoking police

County Health director David Grossman is cutting a rat control position because of lack of funding. In the meantime, Grossman is pressing ahead with his state-unfunded enforcement of smoking in bars. "They aren't getting away with it," Grossman stated. Looks like Grossman's jihad against smokers is taking front seat to rat eradication.

Bob McCloskey gets early release

Bulldog Bob is getting out early. Why ? Don't you think that a public official should be held to a higher standard and serve his full time ?

The Supreme Penalty for Rape

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case about whether—for the first time in decades—a criminal can be executed for a crime that isn't murder. Patrick Kennedy was convicted in 2004 for the rape of a child, his 8-year-old stepdaughter, and the state of Louisiana contends that his crime is tantamount to murder and worthy of death.

Minnesota Public Education: Taxpayers funding Islamic Religious School

The Minnesota Board of Education is allowing a taxpayer funded "public" school to keep operating even though its clearly a religious Islamic school.

Of course, if this were a Christian school getting funded by tax dollars, all hell would be breaking loose. Why the double standard?

State swipes smoking prevention fund

The state has moved to take control of the smoking prevention fund. The administrators of the fund didn't hide the money from the state. And now they plan on burning it for they own purposes. They have pilfered this fund until they is only a small percentage left.

Traveling? Don't take your cell phone or laptop

Traveling into or out of the country? Prepare to have your cell phone, laptop, and other electronic devices seized -for no apparent reason to you. It's becoming positively Orwellian in this country, and the government's police powers are absolute.
