I am linking to two articles describing a fatal attack by two dogs on the friend of a college professor, in the owner's yard. The dogs are described as, "American bulldog mixes." Along with killing the woman, the dogs also bit their owner as he tried to protect his friend! Here are the links: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/06/28/connecticut-woman-brutally-attacked... and: http://www.nhregister.com/general-news/20160628/new-haven-police-will-no...
George Voinovich won his first elective office by taking a strong stand against a Fair Housing law. Years later, as mayor of Cleveland, he signed into law a strong Fair Housing law. Some would label this as a "flip-flop." To George Voinovich, it was plain common sense. Times had changed, and he had changed with them. Unlike so many ideologues of both the right and left, especially today, George Voinovich was willing to compromise.
I will provide a link to an article on the latest apostolic letter issued by Pope Francis. In it, he establishes the strongest reaction yet regarding abuse by church officials. I am not Catholic, however I was taught to always hold clergy of any faith in the highest regard. Pope Francis is doing everything he can to repair the image of Catholic clergy, not only to other Catholics, but to those who follow other faiths as well.
Baylor University is a Christian, faith-based, private university the leadership of which enabled innumerable male university athletes in allowing them to create and maintain an air of sexual terror among the female population of that campus.
Amanda Clark had survived. It was a miracle! She had been using her cell phone while driving a large vehicle. Amanda ran a stop sign. She was broadsided by another vehicle. Her vehicle rolled over about 3 times and ended up on its top. Amanda survived with only minor injuries. She was a graduating senior in high school. She claimed that she knew how lucky she had been to survive. She swore that no message would ever be that important to her again.
As you may recall, Russia took its good old time to get directly involved in Syria. Even though Russia had been a forever backer of the Assad regime, Russia seemed reluctant to take decisive action. Apparently, after years of assessment, Russia decided that ISIS/ISIL or Daesh, whatever is your choice of what to call them, amounts to a much greater evil than is the Assad regime in Syria. Apparently also, Russia assessed the moderate opposition to both Daesh and Assad to be unreliable, disunited, and too weak to be effective.
According to the latest polls, the best candidate for the Republicans to nominate out of the "Final Three" is John Kasich. It's not even close. Those who read here regularly know that I do NOT like John Kasich AT ALL! I regularly call him Governor Sick, but the numbers are fairly consistent throughout February and March.
When running against Hillary, Kasich is a clear leader in all recent polls: http://www.electionprojection.com/latest-polls/national-presidential-pol...
I listened to part of his speech. The Donald -- of all people -- decried the deep divisions in our country, after he has spent the entire campaign, since he entered the fray, ripping various ethnic and/or racial groups in our society.
Here is a link to an interview from this morning. http://www.businessinsider.com/cnn-anchor-jake-tapper-donald-trump-david...
David Duke publicly endorsed The Donald for POTUS. Duke stated that, "voting against Donald Trump at this point is really treason to your heritage [whiteness?]."
A ten year old girl gave her life to save two very young children who were in the path of an out-of-control SUV. Here's a link to the story: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/guardian-angel-10-dies-while-saving-liv... Anne Frank said, in the midst of hiding from the terrorism that we label The Holocaust, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart."
Rich Kinder is the founder of energy giant Kinder Morgan. His analysis of the current investment environment, I admit, parallels my own. But (very) Rich Kinder has much better credentials than do I. There are very knowledgeable people who disagree with (very) Rich Kinder. No one is infallible.
It's interesting that Trump has decided to broadcast his own venue instead of participating in the next debate. In my opinion, this move will doom his campaign because this clearly shows what type of incompetent POTUS he would be. So I say, Mr. Trump, take your ball and go home. He must have heard me because that is exactly what he is doing.
In 1887, ex-slaves began petitioning the federal government for pensions and compensation for the years they had labored without wages before abolition. When Congress ignored their thousands of petitions, they tried to sue for wage theft but were told they could not. At the very least, all African Americans should be eligible for reparations. Monies could come from corporations, from banks and insurance companies.
I am linking to an article about the best actions to take if you happen to be in one of those rare, but growing, mass shooting situations. I hope that no one here ever needs to use the information presented here, but life has a way of throwing us into situations which are unforeseeable. So just in case, here's the link:

I am providing a link to an article which shows -- unsurprisingly -- that those states with the highest percentage of citizens with college educations, also, generally, spend the most on k-12 education, AND have higher median incomes than do most other states.

I am providing a link to a story about a member of the U.S. Air Force who saved a family after Katrina hit 10 years ago, but could NOT get the image of a 3 year old girl's smile out of his mind. He just had to find her and see how she and her family were doing now.
What a great testament to the human spirit!

The article to which I am providing a link states the case very well. Many Republicans talk as though they want to expand the party's base, and do more for common folks. However, their rhetoric is nothing but empty promises. And these Republicans are those who are relatively moderate! As this article articulates, their policies STILL favor the super-rich. For years I have been complaining about the high cost of razors, so, a few years ago I started using my Water-Pik to power wash the disposable razors after each use. Today, I use this technique every time I finish shaving. My disposable razors last about twice as long because of the pressure washing. That's a 50% savings. Good luck. I hope others get the same benefit.
With the events this last week, Obama has served up dinner for the conservatives. The conservatives are eating Jim Crow. I predict when Obama leaves office the facts will show he was the the greatest POTUS this country ever had. Millions of hard working Americans benefited by the Supreme Court decisions. When are the conservatives, specifically the Republicans, going to understand that the United States is a a nation of people, not about destroying the middle class and creating a feudal system.
