The Republican House Conference recently held in Baltimore, was a human chess game. President Barack Obama scored a checkmate! No speeches, no teleprompter, no notes just one brilliant man, proving point after point after point. The republicans underestimated the president when they agreed to have the conference televised. As he stated when proposing to put the earmarks online before a vote is taken, "sunshine is the best disinfectant."

If Toledoans are sick and tired of the same old thing when it comes to mayoral politics it is no wonder. For too many years we have had the same old good old boy candidates thrown at us. We have had Carty for twelve of the last sixteen years as mayor. Now we are finally going to be rid of him but who will replace him? Konop? Wilkowski? Bell? Collins? Moody? All of the names mentioned so far are represenatives of the powers that be in Toledo. Konop's old man is a prominent attorney. Wilkowski is another Democratic machine fixture.

Tonight a Toledo Public School Board Retreat was held at the Kent Branch Library. There was an emergency proposal for $750,000 for improvements at the Devillbiss building that will eventually house Scott High School students. This construction money seems pretty innocent until you realize why so much money is being spent because Scott High School students will be learning alongside of Grove Patterson students, Toledo Technology Academy students and I believe Ryder students.

What a happy "first 100 days" gift! The Republican Party is in a state of disarray as Arlen Spector comes full circle in his career as Senator of Pennsylvania and returns to the Democratic Party..
To me he will always be known as the sexual harasser of Anita HIll along with Clarence Thomas.

I just watched Rant and Rave on Fox Toledo News at Four and was quite surprised to see Opal Covey. This is the type of coverage I like to see, where everyone is given a chance to have their say when running for any office.

Hats off to Fox Toledo News at Four. I don't think she has a chance on becoming Mayor, because of the "good old boy" system in Toledo but the fact that she has the fortitude to keep trying says a lot to me about her value system.

This Monday at 7:30 Fred LeFebvre has as a guest on his number one talk show Jon Stainbrook recently elected Chair of the Republican Party. He should not bring a softball bat. Phones will be open if time allows. Meghan W. Smith will be the ring girl, Don Zellers will be the referee.

Once again WSPD was the only radio station in attendance when the Ohio Transportation Priorities Task Force rolled into Toledo for a meeting Tuesday at 4p. Tom Blaha from Wood County's Development Commissione, and Rich Martinko of the UT Intermodal Institute spoke. Both have been on Fred's show before talking about intermodal facilities.

Appeals court declares that there was no reason to remove the children from the FLDS ranch. This is a great day for children and families everywhere. At last someone did the right thing. The next step is to return the children to their mothers.

13 ABC just reported (their website isn't updated so I can't provide a link) that another drunk driver caused an accident going the wrong way on 475. Not that it makes a difference but I believe this time it was a woman.
