Some thoughts about those electric car rechargers downtown

Prompted by a friend, I went online and also downtown to investigate these things. There are 3 stations installed on N Superior St across from First Merit Bank.

http://www4.toledoblade.com/Automotive/2013/09/19/City-to-install3-charg...

The article claims charge cost is included in the parking fee. (Each station also has a parking meter.) But the parking fee advertised at the meter is the same as every other meter: $1/hr.

So does this mean people are recharging their cars there for free? Parking cost is a constant.

Flash on Gaxay Note 10.1 tablet

I just bought this tablet but unfourtunatly it will not support Flash Player. For the SB techies, do you know of a workable solution?

Cars could run on water

Want to see some? Well you have missed this year's Greenfield Village "Old Car Festival" - but go next year. There are always a few Stanley Steamers. And you can see for yourself that the Stanley brothers were correct when they claimed that steam technology (of their day) was superior to combustion engine technology. The steamers glide silently down the roads at the Village, while the combustion engines are loud, smelly, and go PUTA PUT PUT PUT down the road.

Taxpayer Dollars "At Work"

Don't let people tell you that Obama doesn't know how to create jobs. As an example, Obama distributed $9 billion in taxpayer dollars to fund solar and wind projects that created 910 "direct" jobs.

Now those anti-Obama slugs might say, "Wow, that's $9.8 million per job created." Well, you teabagging losers--that's not counting the 4,600 "indirect" jobs that were created. Let's see: 910 + 4600 = 5,510 divided into $9 billion--that's only $1.63 million per job. See--if Obama had an additional $100 million he could create another 61 jobs!

Microsoft "Avoid Ghetto" GPS

Microsoft has developed a GPS with an "avoid ghetto" feature. Can you imagine the uproar that would have occurred if a company that wasn't run by a nerdy liberal would have introduced such a device? Thank god that Bill Gates' political leanings insulate him from ever being considered a "racist."

Social Media and the Arts: Pimp-ass Grandstanding

A professional stage director, and a man who I very much respect once said to me, “If your friends talk about theater, get new friends.” I don’t think he meant it as an indictment of the slobbering neurotic crowd as a whole, but more as a lifestyle warning: a hedge-bet against the immersive tendencies of a life in the arts. He meant: “If they talk it, they’re not doing it. You’re doing it and you need to stay sane. You must find a way to disconnect.” I’m only now sorting out that lesson as it applies to social-networking.
