I have to come clean

Today is part 2 of the expose on corruption and vestiges of the Lucas County GOP. What started as a profile on the status on the Lucas County Republican Party one year in, ends up being allegations made at the Board of Elections and at previous volunteers for the party. One particular note came up which I need to come clean on.

This is one of the smartest books of the decade!

This is one of the smartest books of the decade! It is thoughtful, entertaining and enlightening. Written by an investment industry “insider”, the author reveals industry weaknesses and hidden secrets,-notably how they pile on fee after fee, effectively lowering investor’s returns by up to 80%. I can warmly recommend this book to any person interested in improving the return on his or her investment portfolio performance. Kneisley’s thoughts are in line with academic research.

VW's 258MPG Car -- Like the Tata Nano, You'll Never See It In The USA

The Liberals and Alchemy

During the Middle Ages, scientists spent a lot of time pursuing transmutation-a belief one could turn lead into gold. They never did figure out how to do it. They must not have been democrats. The 'crats' have figured how to turn carbon into gold-via what is called "carbon credits", which businesses can buy and sell to each other, in order to keep polluting. I guess we gotta give 'em credit for that.

Privatization vs. Automation of Trash Pickup

This link, http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090130/NEWS16/90..., to a report in the Toledo Blade mentions two possible options. Privatization which would save $3.6 million, and “a second option, which would save nearly $3 million a year, is to spend $12.2 million to buy 40 new automated refuse trucks and continue with city workers collecting trash and recyclables “. I prefer the first option, but I wonder if we should keep the trucks, and lease them to the private sector (in case we find out that it is not working).

GOOGLE PLOT TO STORE ALL DATA, ELIMINATE PERSONAL COMPUTERS...

Google plans to make PCs history Google is to launch a service that would enable users to access their personal computer from any internet connection, according to industry reports. But campaigners warn that it would give the online behemoth unprecedented control over individuals' personal data. Instead a user's personal files and operating system could be stored on Google's own servers and accessed via the internet.

CHICAGO – Americans with diabetes nearly doubled their spending on drugs for the disease in just six years, with the bill last year climbing to an eye-popping $12.5 billion.

Newer, more costly drugs are driving the increase, said researchers, despite a lack of strong evidence for the new drugs' greater benefits and safety. And there are more people being treated for diabetes.
