Taxes

OH NO!

So Forbes magazine has determined that Warren Buffet's secretary--whom Obama put on display at the State of the Union Address--makes a salary of somewhere between $200,000 and $500,000. The publication took her publicized tax rate of 35% and compared it to the IRS tax tables to make that determination. Well, while beginning to compile the information for my own 1040, I couldn't help but to worry about how that poor secretary is paying more than twice the rate of her multi-billionaire boss. How does she survive? Then...

Obama's Folly

Remember how Obama couldn't stop singing the praises of the Chevy Volt? Obama made the BIG announcement that every person who purchased a Volt would receive a $7,500 rebate--at taxpayers' expense. So guess how many Volts were sold in 2011. No, go ahead--take a guess. 30,000? Not even close. 20,000? Come on--stop fooling around. The car that Obama believes will change the future of the automotive business sold a grand total of 7,671 in 2011! The Mackinac Center for Public Policy has calculated that the total subsidies for the Volt could add up to $3 billion.

Trimming the Budget on Clinics

The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, in hopes to save and make more money, is hoping to trim part of the budget by at least $633,000 by raising rates in clinics and shifting people around hoping to not have to lay anyone off.

They are going to do this by first not cutting any services in health care but by slightly raising prices such as the sexually transmitted disease clinic, adult medical visits, and travel immunizations -- and is considering scaling back clinic hours. According to Dr. David Grossman, health commissioner.

A glimpse of OWS you won't see everywhere.

Well gosh darn, this guy doesn't look like a dirty hippie at all!
Notice how he points out that when the wealthy reach the upper tax levels they start to invest back into their businesses, thus reducing their tax burden. When the rates were higher it created incentive to reinvest. We have the opposite situation now.

Tea Party darling Paul Ryan Tries To Create Tax Loopholes For His Biggest Donors

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has for months argued for closing tax loopholes as a way to pay for his proposed tax cuts. But it turns out he has a penchant for creating those same loopholes when it comes to helping out his biggest donors.

S&P downgrades AAA rating. Stock market in turmoil. But they upped the Debt Ceiling?

"Told you so" just doesn't seem enough. Like I said before, S&P said not one damn thing about the Debt Ceiling. http://swampbubbles.com/20110801/dow-jones-drops-and-standard-poors-drop...
Hear that giant sucking sound? THAT IS YOUR HOME MORTGAGE RATE GOING UP, GAS PRICES GOING UP, YOUR CREDIT CARDS COSTING MORE AND YOUR RETIREMENT PLAN GOING TO CHINA.

S&P downgrades US credit rating from AAA

By MARTIN CRUTSINGER
AP Economics Writer

As the Dow Jones drops and Standard & Poors drops our credit rating....

Just in case some Democrat tries to blame the Dow Jones drop and the Standard & Poors credit rating reduction on Republicans, let's get this out in the open right now.

The statement that Standard & Poor's made last week SAID NOTHING about a drop in Americas credit rating due to no Debt Ceiling "deal".

What Standard & Poor's said was they would drop the credit rating fi there were no "credible solution to the rising U.S. government debt burden"

An interview with Ron Paul

My favorite radio host(sorry Fred) Mike Church interviewing Rep. Ron Paul this past weekend. This is one of the only people you will ever see give congressman Paul a fair interview instead of treating him like some old nutjob. Very insightful Q&A.

One more reason I will NEVER buy another GM product.

Absolutely disgusting.

I have always driven Chevys, but now I think it's about time to sell them off.
I think I'm going to start looking at which Japanese automaker has the strongest V8 and no unions and give my business to them.

Toledo City Council Wisdom

According to Council President Wilma Brown- " I have a comment to tell you why I'm going to vote no on this. It's because the kids in the central city that would be going to Smith pool won't be able to go to some of the others because they are not welcome. We got quite a few complaints about our kids going to another pool. So if you can't find money for Smith pool I will be voting no."

"Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich" PASSED BY DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CONGRESS?!?!

It looks like a done deal, so before the crybaby liar Liberal Democrats start trying to spin it, let me remind you of SOME FACTS.

1) The 111th Congress, controlled by Democrats, is in session until January 3rd, 2011.

2) The 111th Congress, controlled by Democrats, is the same group of elected officials who had no problem passing the socialist ObamaCare Healthcare takeover.

David Stockman: continual call for tax cuts-- "It's rank demagoguery"

"We should call it for what it is. If these people were all put into a room on penalty of death to come up with how much they could cut, they couldn't come up with $50 billion, when the problem is $1.3 trillion. So, to stand before the public and rub raw this anti-tax sentiment, the Republican Party, as much as it pains me to say this, should be ashamed of themselves."

Got this in an e-mail. Very good read:

Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day.

"Obama Calls for Curbs on Offshore Tax Havens"
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/05/business/05tax.html

Key quote from the article:
Mr. Obama said most Americans paid taxes as “an obligation of citizenship,” but some businesses and rich people were “shirking” their duties, “aided and abetted by a broken tax system, written by well-connected lobbyists on behalf of well-heeled interests and individuals.”
