Neighborhood residents and students tear gassed after the Start-Central Foorball game.
After hearing the news about Libbey and Bowsher having fights after the foorball games, it is very interesting that Central Catholic's game against Start on Friday night ended the same way. The only difference is that when parents went to pick up their children from the game they (the parents) were tear-gassed. There was no report of this incident that I know of.
There was trouble brewing at the game but the police did not respond until the spectators had left the school and parents were attempting to pick up their children.

UT's statement on the point shaving scandal
Dear Alumni and Friends:
The University of Toledo has received word that federal authorities have indicted six
foriner athletes on charges relating to an alleged "point shaving" scheme, between December 2004 and December 2006.
Let me say from the begimaing that we take this matter seriously, however we also
consider it past history. We will continue to cooperate fully with all law enforcement agencies.

Super Bowl Predictions - Post 'Em here
I made my case for a Steelers victory over the Cardinals in my annual Super Bowl prediction postbut I always enjoy reading the thoughts of others on this game of games.
Perhaps this will be the one thread where civil discourse will reign, though sports sometimes brings out more heated debate than politics.

WOO-HOO!! GO CARDS!!
Written last week, but one of the best, if not the best, article I've ever seen on Pro Football and the media:

Has College Football violated Anti-trust laws?
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/11237917/2
The Utah State Attorney General is investigating whether College football is violating anti-trust laws with the Bowl Championship Series.
Personally I believe it has. Utah, the only perfect team this year, wasn't even given a serious look. The "mid-major" conferences have to be perfect to get in while the BCS conferences get in automatically despite inferrior records.
Who will win the border battle (Ohio State or University of Michigan)?

Vote For Toledo's Victory Over Michigan as the Pontiac Game Changing Performance
Toledo's historic victory over Michigan at the Big House on Oct. 11--as well as the play by senior free safety Tyrrell Herbert that ignited the win-- has caught the attention of the national media. In perhaps the biggest upset in the history of Toledo football, the Rockets stunned Michigan with a 13-10 victory in the Big House, marking the first time a MAC team has defeated the Wolverines.
Toledo beats Michigan
Toledo beats Michigan in possibly one of the messiest and sloppiest games of the year. But a win is a win-congrats to Toledo.
