Election November 2016, Local Issues

I ranted about the issues (proposed tax levies) here, Election 2016, Local Issues, which you may read or not as it amuses you. Some of the demands for more of my money that concern me the most are:

17. Sylvania Local School District 5.7 mills, additional, operating expenses & permanent improvements, for continuing period of time.
Not just no, but Hell No!

Washington Local Family and Friends

Besides the heat wave; is anyone else ready for school to start? Love my children but I do believe I am ready and very excited for this new school year to start!

I am excited for our community. Through turmoil and chaos we have grown. From my personal experiences in the district, I am so proud that the majority has been able to overlook the ones that have been negative and the ones that do not even participate or live in our district.

Let our children hit the ground running and achieve even higher limits this year!!!!

Side note: how many people have made it to a

Sylvania Schools "survey" - Looking at income tax

So the pre-levy survey is live on the Sylvania Schools website. It's a simple SurveyMonkey survey. Not sure who they've hired to do their PR for this go round, but if it's Mark Luetke and FLS, they are not getting their money's worth. They've tipped their hand about asking for a school income tax in Question 12:

12. You may be aware that Sylvania Schools over time have traditionally asked for community support via a property tax levy. In the future, if the district was to offer a different option to support our schools, which statement would you agree with most?

Patrick Hickey, Washington Local Schools

Whatever happened to Patrick Hickey, the former superintendent of Washington Local School District? Back in December 2015, Patrick Hickey allegedly stated that he planned to file complaints with the Ohio Ethics Commission against Washington Local Board of Education members Patricia Carmean and James Langenderfer, but to the best of my knowledge, there have been no reports about any such ethics complaints ever actually having been filed. And, what of the proclamation by Patrick Hickey that he was planning to seek election in 2017 to become a Member of the Washington Local Board of Education?

I can see clearly now!

I can see clearly now, what is going down with TPS and Clear Channel, WSPD and Fred Lefebvre. A LEVY!!! So tell me what radio station will now promote more taxes for the Toledo taxpayer, by way of a levy to fill the coffers once again of TPS.....Yep, you guessed it! WSPD!!! https://www.toledoblade.com/Education/2014/06/24/Durant-lauds-TPS-succes.... Unholy alliances!

Hey everyone, DTOM thinks ONLY HOMEOWNERS pay for school levies!

Here it is, the crowning moment of stupid: http://swampbubbles.com/20140518/what-do-you-know-about-vietnam#comment-...

That's right, in DTOM-world, commerical property doesn't get assessed for school levies and landlords don't ever pass on the costs to renters.

Everyone laugh at the dumbass!

Toledo Public School's Audit results.

Toledo Public School's commissioned audit will be 500 pages long and will offer 31 recommendations. The Toledo Free Press reports:

Ron Spitulski: Every student has a right to a fair hearing.

Toledo Public School hearing officer disrupts hearing of student because of a temper tantrum. Ron Spitulski throws a temper tantrum during hearing for student. Is this what we pay taxes for? An out of control hearing officer begs the question, "IS TPS still the best choice?"

Wolfman the Race Hustler

A poll doesn't allow for much of an intro, so I just wanted to convey a few thoughts prior to putting it up. Let me start by saying this...this is in no way an attempt to stifle discussion, about race or almost any other topic (sorry, but I'm not changing my mind about wanting to send Justin Bieber back to Canada). Free and open discussion can be extremely productive when those involved have an interest in genuine dialogue. Unfortunately, what isn't productive is when someone trips over an issue and suddenly feels the need to lecture everyone around them. So, when reading on please keep this one question in mind.

How much does wolfman really care about racism?

One of the Biggest Impediments to Quality Education

I work 40 hours a week, my wife works 40 hours a week and almost everyone else I know with a full-time job works 40 hours a week. But if you're a teacher in the Grand Rapids (MI) Public School System, being asked to work 40 hours a week is apparently a bridge too far.

Issue #3 - No!

Issue #3
PROPOSED TAX LEVY (*ADDITIONAL*)
SYLVANIA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
A Majority Affirmative Vote Is Necessary For Passage.

Democrat Election Shenanigans (I know, big surprise.)

With less than two weeks left before the mid-term elections, it really shouldn't surprise anyone that the Democrats are behaving like, well. . .Democrats.
