Herman Cain: the pro-choice candidate

On abortion:

"[I]t comes down to it’s not the government’s role or anybody else’s role to make that decision.... So what I’m saying is it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn’t have to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive issue."

Good for him.

Perry Used Jet of Donor Who Faces SEC Probe

Another story about scheming Republicans and their "for sale" politicians.

A true Republican and I bet a Tea Party memeber

At a town hall event in Florida yesterday, GOP Representative Steve Southerland took a question from a constituent about his salary. He proceeded to tell the good people he supposedly represents that his salary is small considering how many hours he puts in and the risks he runs.

“And by the way, did I mention? They’re shooting at us,” Southerland told constituents. “If you think this job pays too much, with those kinds of risks and cutting me off from my family business, I’ll just tell you: This job don’t mean that much to me. I had a good life in Panama City.”

Tea Party Leader Says Palin Will Make 'Major Announcement' Sept 3rd

Sarah Palin is either laying the groundwork for an imminent entry into the presidential race or having a whole lot of fun toying with political analysts.

Though the buzz surrounding a possible "mama grizzly" bid was until recently fading, the former Alaska governor kicked it back up with her "One Nation" bus tour through Iowa earlier this month. It just happened to coincide with the Ames Straw Poll and politics-rich Iowa State Fair.

We the Corporations

Do you have a penny in your pocket? Well, if you do, you have more money in your pocket than the income taxes paid by GE, Wells Fargo, Exxon-Mobil, Citibank, and Bank of America combined. That’s right, these corporations and many more like them do NOT pay taxes like real people do. Instead, these greedy, ultra rich corporations make billions in profit, exploit tax loopholes, and some even get subsidies from the government. And the sad thing is that we the people aren’t taking action to put a stop to it.

Where are the Koch Brothers???

Another one to place in the "Do as I say, not as I do" file on liberal hypocrisy.

For all the whining that was done on the left about outside money from the right to support Wisconsin's collective bargaining reforms, does it really surprise anyone to see where money is coming from to support the recall efforts?

My apologies if the the chart is a little tough to read. Had to shrink it by half for it to fit. The link to the article at the end of the post will have the full size image.

Tea Bagging for Fred

It doesn’t have the same race baiting edge that Fred LeFebvre of WSPD likes so much, but here are a bunch of Tea Baggers at their finest… Enjoy Fred.

14th Amendment Option May Be Legit, Says Leading Senate Republican

"Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said on Thursday that the Constitution may trump the debt ceiling, allowing the administration a way out of the default impasse.

Negotiators are considering gutting the social safety net in exchange for a vote to lift the debt ceiling. Grassley, in a conference call with local reporters, said that there may be another way out.

U.S. Is One of the Least Taxed Developed Countries

"Some members of Congress are threatening to allow the U.S. to default on its debt obligations— and send financial markets into a tailspin — unless the President agrees to large, sudden cuts in the budget deficit without any increase in tax revenue. But the most recent data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Office of Management and Budget and the Census Bureau reveal that the U.S. is already one of the least taxed countries in the developed world. Only two OECD countries have lower

I am surprised that the announcement that Glen Beck is gone off of the air has not been reported on this site. Any explanations?

An interview with Ron Paul

My favorite radio host(sorry Fred) Mike Church interviewing Rep. Ron Paul this past weekend. This is one of the only people you will ever see give congressman Paul a fair interview instead of treating him like some old nutjob. Very insightful Q&A.

Happy belated birthday Ronny Reagan

"Don't Add Reagan's Face to Mount Rushmore
By Dr. Peter Dreier
The Nation
April 3, 2011

The nation recently celebrated the hundredth anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth, but we should not forget that many of the serious problems facing America today began or worsened during Reagan's presidency.

Why not let Reagan, who died in 2004, rest in peace? Because a growing chorus of journalists, politicians, and pundits are using this milestone to rewrite history and bestow on Reagan a status as one of our greatest presidents.

That's hogwash.

GOP's budget increases spending

Turns out the GOP's budget that was supposed to cut $39 billion from the budget actually INCREASES the budget by $3.2 billion. Aww...poor guys. Governing is hard, isn't it?

"It turns out that most of the reductions were phony. Congress canceled the budget authorization for programs that weren’t actually going to spend a dime anyway. For instance, the Census Bureau had $2 billion left over from the decennial count that it wasn’t going to spend. The Republicans counted that as $2 billion saved."

The Donald Is Out!!!!

I was saddened by the news today that Donald Trump will not be running for President in 2012. After a lot of speculation The Donald decided to not throw his hair in the ring! Oops, I meant he decided to not throw his HAT in the ring.

Sue from Toledo on Rush Limbaugh today.

So, was in the car today and caught a bit of Limbaugh in the drive thru at McDs. Lo and behold, Rush takes a call from Sue from usual syncophant caller these shows usually get. She claimed that Obama was the one that actually wanted to bomb Osama's compound but the military leaders convinced him to do the Seals raid. Then she criticized Obama for bragging (she used the word bragadocious 4-5 times in order to sound intelligent) that a treasure trove of intel was discovered and that it might tip off our enemies. After a few minutes, Rush finally understood what she was saying.

GOP budget requires raising debt limit

Paul Ryan's budget proposal requires raising the debt limit.

"It says that in fiscal year 2012, the appropriate debt limit would be $16.2 trillion — nearly two trillion higher than it is now. In 2021, according to Ryan’s proposal, the proper debt limit would be $23.1 trillion — nearly $9 trillion higher than the present."

Funny stuff. The GOP is holding the economy hostage over the debt limit. And their own proposal requires raising the debt limit. These people are very confused.
