This is especially true in the current state biennial budget, which fails to fix the deficit with structural improvements to the way Ohio does business and instead procrastinates Ohio’s true problem—skyrocketing spending and waste, as well as the unbearable tax rates that support it.
COLUMBUS – Small and rural hospitals across Ohio are improving services to their communities thanks to $663,300 in federal and state grants administered by the Foundation for Healthy Communities of the Ohio Hospital Association. The federal funds are provided through the Ohio Department of Health and its State Office of Rural Health.

COLUMBUS— State Representative Barbara Sears (R- Maumee) yesterday honored Meredith Wagner of Northview High School on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Wagner won the state competition for Division I Girls High School Cross Country, besting more than 5,000 other young women and finishing with a time of 18:03. She has signed a letter of intent to continue running for the Ohio State University.
Representative Sears stated, “It is always such an honor to have students from our district recognized and honored on the floor of the House.”

Approximately 2,750 signatures were obtained and submitted to the Secretary of State’s office. The petitions containing these signatures were submitted to place Steve Christopher on the Republican primary ballot this May. Somehow, only 788 signatures were processed and sent to the appropriate counties for validation. Almost 2,000 signatures were lost or never sent to the proper boards of elections for validation.
Reps. Boose and Pillich Introduce Bill to Award Bonuses and Increase Efficiency
Columbus—State Reps. Terry Boose (R-Norwalk) and Connie Pillich (D-Montgomery) yesterday introduced House Bill 461, which when enacted will authorize the Department of Veterans Services to award veterans of the conflicts in the Persian Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan bonuses of up to $1000 for their service.

In all, 43 Midwestern companies have established headquarters, warehouses, distribution centers, factories, branch offices or testing labs across the region since 1999, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Ohio alone has shipped 20 of those companies or their units down Interstate 75. Only three other states -- California, Florida and Texas -- have been more generous toward Atlanta.
COLUMBUS—Ohio House Republican members today issued the attached letter to Attorney General Richard Cordray urging him to join their caucus in an effort to challenge the federal health care legislation that is currently being discussed in Washington D.C.

Over the past two months I have received many calls from constituents objecting to the new $20 late vehicle registration fee that was implemented by House Bill 2, the biennial transportation budget. When this fee was first brought to my attention during the debate on HB 2, I had to admit that I was perplexed. I already thought it was illegal in the state of Ohio to operate a motor vehicle with expired tags.
