New GOP religion is just grand

This President and his administration were delivered a nation and economy on life support a year ago. No one understood whether the world economy would implode, resulting in a global depression.

Fortunately, we have stepped back from the abyss and the economy is slowly recovering, but all we hear from the media is why are we not yet out of the woods.

Is Ben Konop muscling aside competition?

People are telling me that JR Block threatened Democrat Party Chairman Redfern. Redfern was told that if Konop has an opponent in the primary everyone will suffer the consequences. Can anyone confirm this? What have you heard? JR wouldn't have done this without Konop's approval. It's despicable but I won't be surprised to learn that Konop is rigging his reelection through intimidation. And with Stainbrook's long-standing relationship with JR that our "leadership" is part of this.

Mayor Finkbeiner Insulted Blacks - Million Dollar Lawsuit

The Toledo Journal is reporting online that Carty insulted blacks, and one of his top aide's confrims this!

The Journal is reporting that Mayor Finkbeiner made insulting remarks about black men and probably about black women. Mayor Finkbeiner turned down a recommendation to hire a black man because he would be "crucified" if he had two minorities serving as co-directors of the city's Youth Commission.

Konop and Grossman Plead for PAID Sick Days

From the Toledo Blade Letters to the Editor: November 22, 2009

Headline: Let sick workers stay home

As a nation and a region, we are battling uniquely difficult circumstances created by a harsh economic recession and a national health emergency — the spread of the H1N1 flu.

Call it a request or a suggestion, but to avoid having one problem compound the other here in Lucas County, we’d like all workers to be able to stay home when they’re sick with the flu.

ACCORDING TO MAYORAL CANDIDATE MIKE BELL: WILKOWSKI IS AN "INSIDER POLITICIAN"

Mayoral Candidate Mike Bell says, "My opponent is the ultimate insider politician. He has surrounded himself with the same faces that have been in charge for years and led us to where we are today."

Sue Frederick Strikes Again

Sue Frederick the intrepid ticketer of illegally parked cars has struck again. As WSPD reported early this afternoon she is now stealing campaign signs from her neighbors lawns.

TOLEDO FREE PRESS - ENDORSES 2 MAYORAL CANDIDATES?

Early this year, when he was the only declared candidate for mayor of Toledo, I met with Keith Wilkowski for a talk on politics, the economy and Toledo’s future.

Wilkowski is a deliberate thinker, one who seems to process complete thoughts before speaking — “uh” and “um” are not among his linguistic handicaps.

THE TOLEDO FREE PRESS ENDORSES MAYORAL CANDIDATE

The Toledo Free Press Endorses Mayoral Candidate Mike Bell.

There is a world of difference between leading through intimidation and leading through inspiration. Mike Bell is the best of a great field of candidates because he understands that difference.

Bell literally put his life on the line for Toledo, and he has parlayed the respect and experience he earned into a career that took him to Columbus as the state’s fire marshal. He is a proven leader with experience at the top of city government, and no one else has that the inside view.

Right Wing Propogandist Hosts YMCA Friday Morning On WSPD 7am

Friday morning I host the two heads of the YMCA/JCC for an hour long interview about the South YMCA. Robert Alexander, Pres. CEO, and Paul Schlatter head of the Board of Directors will be on to give us the final update on "the deal" and the future of the South Y location. Did the constant barrage of negative coverage hurt fundraising? What happens after three years? Is what Alexander makes important to the story?
Should be fun.

Tell the Toledo Free Press to keep their promises

The Toledo Free Press apparently has a plagiarism problem. The Toledo Blade highlights once such instance uncovered by a University of Toledo professor, Mary Linehan. Ms Linehan discovered some unattributed work in the Free Press and informed TFP's publisher and president Tom Pounds in a letter. The letter went unanswered by Mr Pounds, but instead found it's way into the hands of the author of the plagiarized work--Gregg Schwartz. What happened next, is beyong the pale.

TFP follow up on Thurber-gate (2009)

Michael Miller closes the book on Thurber-gate 2009 with an interesting article in the Toledo Free Press.

Apparently there were two other instances of plagiarism by the author in question.

"Toledo Free Press paid for an audit of its content going back 24 months, checking a sampling of each contributor’s work. That investigation revealed two more instances — Dec. 21, 2007 and Dec. 19, 2008 — in which Thurber failed to cite a source. Those articles have been amended online."

Have you ever published or posted something without citing the author? Be Honest.

Plagiarism for the Vets

So I was reading this interesting blog post called "Plagiarism for the Vets", and I noticed a lot of similarities in a recent Toledo Free Press article. Can anyone else notice the similarities?

Toledo Blade Proudly Proclaims it is Ranked #1 in Ohio and #8 in the Nation ! ! !

I read The Blade every morning. Their news-atorials, abuse of public trust and editorial positions get my blood circulating.

Even though it was in the comic section, todays Blade had a full page boasting the following:

Ranked #1 in Ohio and #8 in the Nation

The Columbus Dispatch?
The Cleveland Plain Dealer?
The Cincinnati Enquirer?

Nope. The Blade.

Later down the page, (below the fold) the ranking is revealed as a ranking in market leadership, according to the 2008 Media Audit Survey.

This is one of the smartest books of the decade!

This is one of the smartest books of the decade! It is thoughtful, entertaining and enlightening. Written by an investment industry “insider”, the author reveals industry weaknesses and hidden secrets,-notably how they pile on fee after fee, effectively lowering investor’s returns by up to 80%. I can warmly recommend this book to any person interested in improving the return on his or her investment portfolio performance. Kneisley’s thoughts are in line with academic research.

I find it interesting that certain issue were left out of the story. I think this will get bigger if its investgated properly.

Washington Post Troubles

It appears all newspapers are going downhill, even the Washington Post.

On 'nakation,' forget worries and clothes

There's something about being naked that makes a person forget a layoff, pay cut or a shrunken retirement account.

The economic recession is "doing us a lot of favors, maybe because there's the idea that if you've lost the shirt off your back, you should go nude," said Erich Schuttauf, executive director of the American Association for Nude Recreation.
