Interesting use of words

I saw this headline on the Blade's Web site today. What do you think about it?

"Thug robs National City branch bank in North Toledo"

Is it appropriate for a newspaper to use the word "thug"?

In Pittsburgh, Tribune overtakes Post-Gazette for first time

Block Communications' old media properties are not doing so good. The Blade is reporting a 10k drop in subscriptions while the other paper, the Post-Gazette has been overtaken by the other daily, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
In fact, the Tribune-Review solidified its standing in Western Pennsylvania last week by overtaking the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for the first time. The Trib topped the P-G in Saturday circulation and is beginning to pull even with Monday-through-Friday editions.

Blade circulation numbers drop by 10k

The Toledo Free Press is reporting that recent audit reports show the Blade dropped their circulation by 10,000. Will it end?

Toledo area to get new FM station?

Ohio media watch is reporting that BAS Broadcasting AC WPFX-FM/107.7 North Baltimore wants to move to Luckey.

The application for WPFX specifies a 5.2kW facility along I-75 just north of Bowling Green, with a 60 dBu city grade signal that cuts off just north of downtown Toledo, and just south of the suburb of Oregon. The resulting signal should prove to be a serviceable class A rimshot for the Toledo market.

Video: Michael Moore And Rep. Marcy Kaptur Discuss His New Movie Capitalism: A Love Story
General Motors didn't allow Michael Moore into the GM Renaissance Center for press interviews before the Detroit premiere of 'Capitalism: A Love' story even though they were invited in advance. The interviews had to be moved to the Marriott across the street, but after the interviews had finished, Mike went into the Renaissance center anyway and we became our own press.

Wilkowski fires back at Bell by saying, "There is a Good Old Boys Club in Toledo that has had too much power for too long. It’s called the Mike Bell for Mayor campaign and it is
run by Tom Noe Republicans like Bob Reichert and disgraced Finkbeiner Democrats like John Irish. That’s not what I call independence."

Editor Ron Royhab of 'The Blade' Retiring

According to "Editor and Publisher," there are a good number of changes at the Blade announced in the last couple of days. Couple of major openings and forced furloughs are the changes mentioned in the story. This is the second leadership shift for Block Communications' print division, the end of July Diana Block stepped down as President of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Politicians Take A Page From Teamwork Toledo's Strategy

It seems as if some politicians have taken a page from the strategy of Teamwork Toledo.

Endorsed Democrats Joe McNamara, Adam Martinez, Terry Biel, and Aji Green have banded together to spread their message of change and new ideas. They call themselves "Hungry4Change."

They will be campaigning together throughout the city.

McNamara, Martinez, and Biel are endorsed Democrats for Toledo City Council At-Large; Green is an endorsed Democrat for the Toledo Board of Education.

Carty calls reporters rude for asking him for the results he promised last year

What is even more humorous is he says flowers don't bring people in, then turns around and says flowers creates jobs and everyone lets that go. If that is not bad, he then says the reason that Sylvania and Perrysberg and Maumee wins awards was because in 93 Toledo won an award. See the Fox Toledo video below.
