How many people are in the Toledo Olympic blackout?

My view of the Olympics this year:

I don't live that far from NBC 24, but for some reason most of the year NBC 24 is not available over the air for me. I am not a subscriber to cable or any other TV provider and have been content with over the air and Internet, especially of lately. Hulu has made it so that it really does not bother me missing my favorite NBC shows on NBC 24, but the Olympics have made me notice how their lousy signal has the possibility of making me miss some important moments. Driving directions to NBC 24 say it is only 5.1 miles away and I am sure a digital signal does not have to travel that far given DTV signals travel in a straight line. I can't believe that NBC 24's digital signal can't travel more than 5 miles (at the most). NBC's Web site says they will be streaming some events live. I hope they will stream the good events live on their Web site and not purposely neuter the Web streaming to help the local affiliates, because in Toledo I am sure other people like me, will shudder having to watch a black screen when the marque events happen.

'I'm Not Saying Your Mother's a Whore': How Fox News Censored Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly

Fox News has generously placed the full, unedited conversation between Bill O'Reilly and Jon Stewart online, so we can see precisely how unfairly and deviously Fox edited the interview in order to weaken Stewart's case: A lot!

The Propaganda Media State

Does a WSPD or a Toledo Free Press have the resources to do real journalism?

Saving American Journalism
Is good journalism going extinct? Fractured audiences and tight budgets have downsized or sunk many of the fourth estate's major battleships, including this very program.

Avatar ! the movie - a short review

This movie is in 3-D . That is a nice effect . Classic themes are here - save the environment , the good guys ultimately beat the bad ones. Computer images fill the movie. - How were these avatars designed ? The colors and jungle action scenes are memorable . The details and theme show alot of thought put into this film.
There is a new age universalist story line. I like the Christian parallels - the floating 'flowers' could represent the Holy Spirit , etc.
I seldom go to movies, most disappoint .

One church, four pedophiles...church was home to four men convicted of sexual crimes against youth in Toledo

St James Holiness Church of God in Christ in Toledo may have a set a nauseating new low. The church has had four convicted pedophiles operating in ministry with the Pastor’s knowledge. But that’s only the beginning of this shocking story which truly symbolizes why drastic reform is needed in COGIC now.

The pastor of St James, William James, Jr. didn’t put the men out of the church, it took legal action against them to stop their predatory activities.

Blade's Nazi reference outrageous and selectivity on steroids

As I posted yesterday, Tim Higgins was right, the reference to Nazi's in defending Jon Stainbrook is an insult to those who suffered under them and one of the weakest arguments one can use. It has to be weak when it comes to Jon. He has accomplished none and only maintains his power through fear and threats. His lack of accomplishment last election even drove other former supporters away.

Careful Reference and more selectivity

From Tim Higgins' Just Blowing Smoke:

I usually try these days to avoid commenting on Blade editorials, as their voice becomes increasing more irrelevant over time. In spite of the fact that I have no ties to the Republican Party, I could not however, let pass without comment the editorial today "Dissension in GOP".

Another Blade Bash

This time, the daily rag's "culture" critic writes off an entire decade. The only reason to write off a decade in NW Ohio would be due to ignorant "reporters" like this guy who do nothing more than join their colleagues in acting on the publisher's ill-conceived uses of his newspaper to denigrate any and everyone in an area in which he no longer resides. This guy even forgets his own paper's Pulitzer Prize, let alone the numerous other achievements accomplished by area politicians, teachers, coaches, students, researchers, artists and business persons in the face of adversity.

Mayor Finkbeiner Insulted Blacks - Million Dollar Lawsuit

The Toledo Journal is reporting online that Carty insulted blacks, and one of his top aide's confrims this!

The Journal is reporting that Mayor Finkbeiner made insulting remarks about black men and probably about black women. Mayor Finkbeiner turned down a recommendation to hire a black man because he would be "crucified" if he had two minorities serving as co-directors of the city's Youth Commission.

Climate story should have run in the Blade

Jack Lessenberry actually says the Blade missed something-the climategate e-mails.

===

Your ombudsman thinks Mr. Haase is right about one thing; The newspaper should have run coverage of this story. A search of back issues of the newspaper turned up no mention of the controversy, other than an editorial and an aside in a column by Ann McFeatters.

Latest Blade changes

It is a disappointment that Editor and Publisher is shutting its doors. They were always a good source of information on the Blade. While they are closing up shop, here is the latest on the changes at the Blade. I have not watched the local coverage of the changes, but there are a few more positions discussed in this report than just Kushma.
