Email from concerned Republicans

Tomorrow the LCRP Central Committee will vote on our party chairman. Before that
vote happens there are some things you need to know about one of the candidates
for that office. Jon Stainbrook is what many would call a wolf in sheeps clothing.
I know many of you have received his letters and newsletters and it all sounds great

WSPD Only Radio In Attendance At Transportation Task Force Meeting

Once again WSPD was the only radio station in attendance when the Ohio Transportation Priorities Task Force rolled into Toledo for a meeting Tuesday at 4p. Tom Blaha from Wood County's Development Commissione, and Rich Martinko of the UT Intermodal Institute spoke. Both have been on Fred's show before talking about intermodal facilities.

Investigation Needed

Have you ever wondered why people do the things they do? Whatever happened to innocent until

proven guilty? I have a situation that I believe should be brought to the publics attention,

Lucas County Children Services was contacted in Feb 2008 and allegations were brought

Designers add trees, ivy, bushes to facade of new Toledo arena

Final drawings for the arena under construction in downtown, to be unveiled today by the Lucas County commissioners, show a green side - literally.

The designs include not only environmentally friendly construction with efficient heating and cooling systems, but also a lobby packed with trees and bushes as well as an ivy-covered glass "Green Wall" greeting visitors at its south entrance.

First Solar CEO cashes half his stock in $257 million deal

First Solar Inc.'s second-largest shareholder sold half his shares, a signal that the world's biggest solar company may soon fizzle.

Groundhog day? Another Irony Award goes out to Stainbrook

I thought I read this story before in the Blade :)
Stainbrook wins another Irony Award for the few things that made me chuckle:

"They were standing at my voting location, they're handing out literature saying Riley Troup is the endorsed Republican," Mr. Stainbrook recalled. "I was devastated. I was hurt."

What about the Old West End people getting phone calls saying their candidate was endorsed by the Lucas County Republican Party...(long pause)...grassroots coalition. Listen at:

County cuts rat control in favor of smoking police

County Health director David Grossman is cutting a rat control position because of lack of funding. In the meantime, Grossman is pressing ahead with his state-unfunded enforcement of smoking in bars. "They aren't getting away with it," Grossman stated. Looks like Grossman's jihad against smokers is taking front seat to rat eradication.

Twenty years ago, Forth Worth was in a similar spot as Toledo.

Fort Worth's chief industry - the U.S. military - had left town and elected leaders were looking for another industry to support the medium-sized city on the outskirts of Dallas.

In via e-mail:

This afternoon Judge Skow of the Sixth District Court of Appeals issued a stay on
our Central Committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Obviously there is no meeting,
further information will be issued as soon as we know the situation. We can assume
at this time that the meeting will be rescheduled for 15 days after the judge makes

Dear Republican Leader,

Stainbrook wins the Irony Award

Jon Stainbrook wins the "Irony Award":

"Party activist Jon Stainbrook, who is running for chairman in a party election set for Saturday, said Wack's employment by the party until yesterday was evidence of the party's tolerance for corruption that he said remains from the days of disgraced party chairman and fund-raiser Tom Noe."

40 Yards of Pipe for 3000 Jobs? Hardly.

Intermodal freight transportation is exploding around the country and Northwest Ohio is well-placed and well-equipped to handle cargo for the tri-state area. However, we need to be smart about how we encourage development around resources like Toledo Express. Governmental agencies like the Port Authority are working to entice logistics companies into building intermodal terminals at TOL, but they also must determine which development prospects are practical and which proposals will only drain the area's limited infrastructure improvement budget. After reviewing Brian McMahon's proposal, I feel it qualifies as the latter for the following reasons.

Intermodal Update And Some Answers

I had the pleasure of speaking this morning with a number of people actively involved in the intermodal project that is a vision for Toledo Express. I went back and pulled some of handbanana's questions because he seemed a little unsure of how all this would work and confused about the process.

A twist to the story of James Arthur

So we have heard about the story of the Republican precinct chair that lives in Michigan, but won a Toledo seat. His name is James Arthur.
