CIA Spies Caught, Fear Execution in Middle East...

'More than a dozen spies working for the CIA in Iran and Lebanon have been caught and the U.S. government fears they will be or have been executed, according to four current and former U.S. officials with connections to the intelligence community'.

"Other current and former officials said the discovery of the two U.S. spy rings occurred separately, but amounted to a setback of significant proportions in efforts to track the activities of the Iranian nuclear program and the intentions of Hezbollah against Israel".(You think).

Tallying the Toll of U.S.-China Trade

Conservatives always promote free unregulated world trade. Here's a Wall Street Journal article giving a rare critique of free trade.

Obama calls for manufacturing to grow but hasn't set strategy
Quote from article:
"As President Obama urges Congress to enact a package of tax cuts and new government spending intended to revive growth and create jobs, one crucial corner of the U.S. economy -- manufacturing -- has largely fallen off Washington's radar screen.
Vermeer makes nearly one-third of its annual revenue from exports -- counting on the U.S. government for trade agreements, favorable currency arrangements, and even white-knuckle diplomacy to make exports happen.

Wealthy French Push for Extra Tax on Rich
Wall Street Journal

PARIS—France's richest woman, who recently ran into trouble for allegedly evading taxes, said Tuesday she wished to stand by her country as it is going through hardships, urging the government to create a one-time levy on the nation's most well-off taxpayers.

In a call that echoes a recent message to fellow billionaires issued by U.S. tycoon Warren Buffett, Liliane Bettencourt, along with 15 other wealthy individuals, made the unusual plea for a special though "reasonable" tax. (MORE)

The Royal Offensive Wedding

Homosexuals, Muslims and Atheists had a collectively horrible day as the Royal Wedding commenced. Homosexuals had to endure the "offensive" act of watching a man and a woman exchange vows in holy matrimony. How offensive that it wasn't Prince marrying Prince as we could all imagine the honeymoon night of two flamboyantly dressed princes playing tummy sticks on royal bedding.

How great to see Egyptians dancing in the streets after toppling their dictator, but all the while knowing executive power had been transferred to the military. It's inchoate. Shouting "yes" to a now obvious army rule? Perhaps they see Mubarak's expulsion as something greater than whatever happens next. God (or Allah or whatever you want to call Him) bless the Egyptian people. But I worry. Unlike the colonists seeking separation from England in the 1770s, the Egyptian people are not armed. They cannot fire back. They can only gather and shout and hope they don't get shot to death.

U.S. Discovers $1T in Afghan Mineral Deposits

This has been relative secret development, but in my opinion is one of the reasons Obama is still in Afghanistan, contrary to campaign promises. Don't be surprised if Obama's buddy, Jeffery Immelt, CEO of GE is a big winner here. This is a great opportunity for obama to reward his cronies.
