Tea Partys in Britain!

Tagged:

Well, well, well--Great Britain is having its' first Tea Party, this Saturday. What's this about? King Georges' payback? No, I believe "INGSOC'' is in it's death throes, finally.

Where's the Toyota threads?

Just curious why we haven't seen a posting on Toyota's terrorist plot to kill Americans.

You wouldn't know it, but this isn't the first recall ever.

But I have a question - The federal government as well as GM are piling on. UAW is in on it too.

Is it because of the seriousness of the issue and GM wants Toyota's customers, or has this crossed the line into nationalism with shades of jingoism because Toyota is a foreign company?

By JENNIFER LOVEN, AP White House Correspondent Jennifer Loven, Ap White House Correspondent 35 mins ago
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is prepared to accept some Taliban involvement in Afghanistan's political future and appears inclined to send only as many more U.S. troops to Afghanistan as are needed to keep al-Qaida at bay, a senior administration official said Thursday.

President condemns jihadi recruiting in Minnesota

These young men leaving America to fight against us is so tragic. And you can't blame Bush any more.
Finally, a strong condemnation of jihadi recruits targeting Muslim youths in Minnesota from the president. No, not the president of the United States.
The president of Somalia:
The president of Somalia on Sunday denounced the recruiting of young men from Minnesota’s huge Somali community for terrorist activity in his war-ravaged homeland, and said he plans to work with the U.S. government to bring those still alive back home.

Kaptur says it is time to move on over Pelosi interregation techniques knowledge

Says her district wants to move on:

“I certainly am rallying around her. We need to get on with the business of the country,” says Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D) of Ohio, who has been an outspoken opponent of Pelosi. “The reaction I’m hearing from people in my district is: What’s wrong with Washington? The mortgage foreclosure rates are skyrocketing, unemployment is skyrocketing and the Washington press corps is focused on this inside-baseball inside Washington. My district wants to move on.”

Americans for Prosperity "Hot Air Balloon Stop" At UT

2009-04-30 9:00 am

Americans for Prosperity, with the help of the UT College Republicans, are hosting a "Hot Air Balloon Stop" to highlight the dangers of Cap and Trade, the increased taxation and potential job loss of harsh energy policy, and to combat the "extremist" views of Al Gore. The event will be held on April 30 in the Carter Recreational Field on the University of Toledo campus at 9:00 am. Carter Field is located directly across from the campus Rec Center and is on the corner of Oakwood and N. Westwood.

No personal car, no hot water. Is Toledo headed this way?

The contrast between the haves and have nots is big around the world. I just spent a week in Manila , then a week in rural Philippines. There are a couple of huge 5 story malls there in the city, then outside there are dirty children begging- there is no welfare system. It wasn't as bad as the slumdog movie , but the contrast is big. The prices are close to ours, food is cheaper, goods are higher. The wages are very low, a store clerk makes around 300-350 $ U.S. equivalent per month.

S. Korean govt. clamps down on bloggers

Could this happen here? Mr. Lee's government also is set to clamp down on anonymous online posts by requiring users of popular Web sites to register under their real names. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123982362967022071.html

My report from Manila , live and in person!

Wow , Chris , Asia does give a different perspective. You have been here too.
The filipina people are America in the 1960's and before. They still neighbor easily, have community -sharing meals house to house , old values ( the ones we used to like to have in America) . The many store clerks greet with a respecful ' Hello sir, hello mom' (Ma'am). The stores have many more clerks than in America. It is a service oriented society. It is holy week , businesses closing, people taking time for God.

Was it a UFO?

I was outside around 9:00 p.m. tonight star gazing when I observed a very bright light crossing the sky from west to east. I thought maybe it was a satellite but it appeared brighter and larger then satellite sightings I have observed in the past. There were no blinking lights an airplane would display and the orbit was much too high.

Hmmm....?

Northwest 747 Landing at Toledo Express

I was near the airport for lunch today and looked up to see a Northwest 747 flying overhead - headed for a landing. I looked on "Flightaware" because I thought they were only landing them on the weekends, and it said it was a flight from Tokyo, Japan.

I am curious if anyone knows anything about this?

War ends

The president has made it official. The Global War on Terror (GWOT) is over and is being replaced by what it should have been all along: a vigilant, forceful, counter-terrorism campaign against our nation's enemies. Gone soon will be Guantanamo, torture, renditions and extra-legal or illegal means of confronting our foes that have earned us the opprobrium of the world community.

VP Cheney regrets nothing

Dick Cheney is the rabbit who keeps on ticking. In an interview, VP Cheney says basically that he'd do it all over again... Guantanamo, torture, the Iraq invasion, etc., etc. And, that he was instrumental in many of the decisions, such as torture and indefinite imprisonment.
