GOP endorses Mayoral and City Council Candidates

The Lucas County Republican Party yesterday announced its slate of endorsed candidates for the six at-large Toledo City Council seats and the mayoral seat.

Jim Moody has been endorsed for the mayoral race.

For the council race:

Mark Clark, Jeff Cromwell, Rob Ludeman, George Sarantou, Hans Schnapp, and Constatine Stamos.

Well, I thank Jon Stainbrook for endorsing these candidates, now I know who I WON'T vote for!

Rob Ludeman? Yea right....Toledo needs a change, and he did nothing when he was on council before. We need to move Toledo forward, not backwards!

Ward Requests That The City of Toledo Be Audited - updated

Toledo, OH – We are in the third quarter of 2009 and the city of Toledo is still facing a budget deficit of approximately $8.9 million dollars. The citizens of Toledo are frustrated, as we continue to watch the Mayor and City Council argue back and forth undermining each other instead of making the tough decisions necessary to solve the budget deficit. On Thursday, August 13th at 10 AM in front of One Government Center, City Council candidate Stephen Ward will request that the city of Toledo be audited by an independent auditing firm outside of the city of Toledo.

This time, two council members—who are also running to retain their seats—have submitted a proposal to make the tax increase more palatable through “recycling rewards.”

items to sell. We will accept any item that people want to get out of
their house. Absolutely anything big or small. We will also come get
any item. Please have people email us at
or call 4195176634.

McNamara proposes a Recycling bank...and a higher trash tax

Council president Joe McNamara proopsed increasing the trash fee and partnering with Recycle Bank.

The proposal would reward us in points for every pound recycled. These points would be awarded in the form of gift certificates or vouchers that we can exchange for product.

According to 13-ABC News, the regional sales manager of Recycle Bank. said "The average recycler will earn $240 a year in savings. Our maximum recyclers are earning about $540 a year in savings."

Toledo, OH – City Council passed legislation amending section 351.07 of the Toledo Municipal Code. This legislation does not change the law that parking in the grass in the front, side, or back yard of your property is illegal.

Ward asserts, “Government exist to serve the people, but the current administration continues to make decisions that not only hurt the citizens of Toledo, but also encourages people to refrain from relocating into Toledo.”

The city of Toledo is currently facing a deficit of $8.9 million dollars and must find ways to balance the budget.

I Voted.

I just got back from Voting. I Voted NO. No on the Oregon Property TAX Levy! I just wish that there was a HELL-NO button!

Mayoral and Council Candidates - DON'T MAKE BALLOT!

The Toledo Blade is reporting that Mayoral Candidate Don Gozdowski will not be on the ballot. He missed the required number of valid signatures to qualify for the September primary. Don submitted 873 signatures but only 634 were ruled valid.

Mayoral candidates needed to have 750 valid signatures to be on the ballot.

Another thing that is interesting is that the "major" mayoral candidates barely made the ballot as well.

Collins had 752 ruled valid.

Moody had 754 ruled valid.

Wilkowski had 760 ruled valid.

Konop had 762 ruled valid.

Bell had 773 ruled valid.
