Guernica interviews Marcy Kaptur about her thoughts on the foreclosure crisis

Last April, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Ohio attended a Washington dinner where Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase, was a speaker. Kaptur, whose district includes Toledo and counties along the Michigan border, had recently been told by local realtors that JP Morgan Chase was a top forecloser in the area—and this in a district devastated by the economic downturn. Foreclosures had almost doubled, unemployment was close to 20 percent in some areas, and Toledo was now the eighth poorest city in the nation.

LATTA STATEMENT ON H.R. 3962

WASHINGTON- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3962.

“From the beginning of the health care debate this year, constituents in my district and millions of Americans made it clear that they do not support the government takeover of our nation’s health care system which is exactly what Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama’s plan, H.R. 3962, does.

EDITORIAL: Old-school corruption

Before taking control of the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history." However, with dozens of mostly Democratic lawmakers and various staff under investigation by the House's twin ethics bodies, the majority clearly values political power over clean government.

Unions: No tax on 'Cadillac' health plans

Unions: No tax on 'Cadillac' health plans
By Kevin Bogardus - 10/02/09 06:11 AM ET

Organized labor is turning to House Democrats to oppose a tax on high-cost insurance plans that is under consideration to help pay for healthcare reform.

Unions are blasting the idea in the Senate Finance Committee bill, as many union members would be affected because they either have expensive insurance to cover dangerous professions or negotiated for better benefits instead of higher wages.

Pelosi Supports 'Fairness Doctrine'

From Human Events:

The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media) would not see the light of day in Congress during
’08. In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster's Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” -- which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

Will Cindy "Moonbat" Sheehan run against Bela Pelosi?

Just saw on another site that the professional protester, who said earlier this month she was retiring from demonstrating, etc; to 'spend time with her family' (the ones who are still speaking to her, anyway)-now has supposedly thrown down the gauntlet to Speaker of the house Lady P, if she (Pelosi) doesn't start impeachment proceedings against Bush by the end of this month.
