On Thursday, April 22, President Barack Obama made the case for increased regulation of the financial industry in a televised speech at Cooper Union in New York City. It was widely billed as President Obama's chance to harness the momentum behind reforming Wall Street and move forward the bills being considered in the House and Senate. Those measures face stiff opposition from most of the Republican Party and an army of lobbyists from Wall Street who have the ear of members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.

This President and his administration were delivered a nation and economy on life support a year ago. No one understood whether the world economy would implode, resulting in a global depression.
Fortunately, we have stepped back from the abyss and the economy is slowly recovering, but all we hear from the media is why are we not yet out of the woods.

Supreme Court rolls back campaign spending limits
Reaction of political groups was immediate.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/judicial/2010-01-21-campaign-spe...
"This decision allows Wall Street to tap its vast corporate profits to drown out the voice of the public in our democracy," said Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, a group that favors limits on campaign spending and vowed to push swift passage of legislation in Congress to publicly finance congressional elections.

Why Free Trade Is Failing America
http://www.axcessnews.com/index.php/articles/show/id/19214
By Peter Morici
(AXcess News) Baltimore, MD - No economic policy could better serve Americans than genuine free trade but open trade policies are failing Americans.
Free trade is a compelling idea. Let each nation do more of what it does best, and specialization will raise productivity and incomes.

Democrats Commit Political Suicide – In Three Steps
This was the latest email from Human Events, Newt is right. Dems don't care about the country, they just care about their far left base. Many people are seeing this, which is why 2010 will be a bad year for them. The Dems know this and it is completely mind blowing they don't care about it.

Over at Pollster.Com, President Obama’s "streams crossed" this week. That’s part-"Ghostbusters," part-pollster speak for saying the President’s approval rating dipped below his disapproval rating, causing the lines of the graph charting his standing with the American people to cross.

President Obama Face Time
Well I guess we had another visit from our prime time President (move over Dion) on his latest crisis he felt compelled to make, the most pressing emergency in the history of the USA. Not that the troops aren't important but come on! It was all leaked the weekend before as test balloons to see just how much flack he was going to be getting from everywhere. (A typical tactic of the Obama Admin,) The dithering for the entire month did show that he was truly perplexed on the whole issue, and he showed it in the various photo ops he staged with flag draped coffins and strolls through Arlington.

In 1991, James Carville coined the phrase "It's the economy, stupid" when Bill Clinton ran against George H.W. Bush. It was effective and Mr. Clinton won.
Well, President Obama, "It's jobs, not health care" that is the number one issue on people's minds. Month after month, the media try to get us to believe the economy is getting better as more and more of my friends and family lose jobs.

LATTA STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT’S AFGHANISTAN REMARKS
WASHINGTON- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement after President Obama’s speech at West Point this evening.
Be Thankful
Well tomorrow is Thanksgiving day. A very American holiday. A time to pause and give thanks for all we have been blessed with as Americans. For a strong and free government blessed with divine providence from God. So take a moment and be thankful. It could be worse. We could actually have a horrible economy and owe the nation to a Communist country. (Oh wait we do!) Well at least we have a President who puts his country before his own ego. One that will support his troops and let them know that , he has their back. (OH what?

Regardless of the President's decision
Regardless of whatever the President decides I did get some good news this week. I am going to Afghanistan. I begin predeployment training in about a month.
For those of you not familiar with my situation I have been in the military for almost 8 years now. I have been trying to deploy for almost all of that time but have been in several "non-deployable" statuses.
