The Fallen Timbers Republican Club members at their regularly scheduled meeting, January 13th, 2010 voted unanimously to recognize Chairman Jeff Simpson as the newly elected Lucas County Republican Chairman.

The latest: There is some controversy with the signatures on the form listing the Jeff Simpson's executive slate. We will have to watch if this is an issue or not.

The Lucas County Board of Elections canceled a meeting on the composition of the county Republican Party, throwing into limbo an attempted takeover by forces opposed to GOP Chairman Jon Stainbrook.

The board meeting, which had been scheduled for tomorrow morning, was canceled late yesterday afternoon after legal questions arose about the validity of documents filed by the opposing faction.

New Republican Central and Executive Committee on file at Board of Elections

Toledo, OH - Lucas County Republican Chairman Jeff Simpson announced that the roster of Central and Executive Committee members as required by the Ohio Revised Code were filed with the Lucas County Board of Elections this afternoon. This process is required in order for the Republican State Central Committee to confirm the results of the meeting held on December 21 in which Mr. Simpson was elected Chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party.

Governor Strickland and House Democrats have supported increasing the state income tax to fill the void created by their budget shortfall.
