The Fallen Timbers Republican Club members at their regularly scheduled meeting, January 13th, 2010 voted unanimously to recognize Chairman Jeff Simpson as the newly elected Lucas County Republican Chairman.

The latest: There is some controversy with the signatures on the form listing the Jeff Simpson's executive slate. We will have to watch if this is an issue or not.

The Lucas County Board of Elections canceled a meeting on the composition of the county Republican Party, throwing into limbo an attempted takeover by forces opposed to GOP Chairman Jon Stainbrook.

The board meeting, which had been scheduled for tomorrow morning, was canceled late yesterday afternoon after legal questions arose about the validity of documents filed by the opposing faction.

Toledo, OH - Lucas County Republican Chairman Jeff Simpson announced that the roster of Central and Executive Committee members as required by the Ohio Revised Code were filed with the Lucas County Board of Elections this afternoon. This process is required in order for the Republican State Central Committee to confirm the results of the meeting held on December 21 in which Mr. Simpson was elected Chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party.

Governor Strickland & House Democrats stick taxpayers with the bill

COLUMBUS— House Republicans today offered a number of alternatives to legislation put forward by Democrats that will retroactively increase the tax burden on Ohio’s families by 4.2 percent in 2009. Currently, state income tax rates are to be reduced by a total of 21 percent over a five-year period, according to House Bill 66 of the 126th General Assembly. Governor Strickland and House Democrats have supported increasing the state income tax to fill the void created by their budget shortfall.

Toledo, OH – On tomorrow July 7, City Council will be selecting the new council president, and most likely fill the vacant council seat. The Lucas County Democratic Party Executive Committee has recommended TPS School Board President Steve Steel to get the vacant seat. With the vacant seat on City Council the Republicans are outnumbered by the Democrats 7-3, with one Independent. Therefore, while those on City Council do not have to accept the recommendation of the Lucas County Democratic Party Executive Committee...most likely they will.

Toledo, OH – The Lucas County Democratic Party Executive Committee has recommended and supports Steve Steel to be appointed to the City Council seat, which will be vacated by Council President Mark Sobczak following the City Council meeting on June 23.
