Lisa Sobecki

I drove by Scott High School today and it felt like the lights went out.

Two days after the election, I drove by Scott high school, which I do a few times a day, but this time it was different. It felt like the lights had gone out. With the election of Bob Vasquez, Virginia Hill and Larry Sykes, to the school board, who will advocate for the neighborhood's high school, Jack Ford, Lisa Sobecki?

Pride versus Humility

Sometimes pride gets in the way of being able to partake fully in things we as human beings want to do. What my parents told me was, "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face." I am such a holder of grudges that it is difficult for me to forgive and forget, especially if the offender has not apologized or even acknowledged that they were being offensive.

Open Letter to the Black Community and anyone else interested in fair play, fair dealing and the truth,

I had the opportunity of attending the Toledo Board of Education's interviews for filling the vacancy left by the abdication of Steve Steel, the inveterate politician.

The interviews were held with Bob Vasquez presiding over the proceedings. Present were Ms. Darlene Fisher, Mr. Bob Vasquez, Ms. Lisa Sobecki and Mr. Jack Ford.

In June of 2009, the Scott Alumni Association through its president Robert Davis requested that TPS form an oversight committee for the Scott High School
building process. Two meetings were held with school board member Lisa
Sobecki, to discuss this formation. The last oversight committee was selected
during the term of former Superintendent Eugene Sanders.

The last minutes of the TPS Community Oversight Committee meetings

Why does TPS not want to involve Scott alumns in the renovation of Scott?

Why would anyone in TPS be non-committal in keeping Scott alumns involved in the renovation of Scott? Lisa Sobecki and the administration think it is a bad idea. Maybe if they are involved things will go right, because we all know TPS's record on the building plan. Poor planning. Poor decisions. Over spent, under built.

The Toledo Journal has more:

Toledo Public Schools officials like to say they welcome community involvement. Now, with Scott High School’s renovation approaching, the public will learn whether that is real sentiment or just words.

Politics 101: Don't try to rewrite history with someone who made it

There is something wrong with someone who writes to clarify the record, has the record rewritten on behalf of the “President of the Toledo Board of Education”. That sums up what Steven Steel tries to do in a response from a community member trying to clarify some misconceptions.

Troy Neff Show: Chris Myers & Lisa Sobecki discuss the fact-finder report

Troy and Chris chat about the TPS boards’ decision to vote on the fact-finder report Friday. On the other hand, Lisa is a little more reserved with her comments.

Are they just going to rubber stamp it just to avoid a strike during the school year, or for personal gain?

A pair of their new colleagues charged that Tuesday's election of Jack Ford and Lisa Sobecki will further strengthen the grip of the Toledo Federation of Teachers union over the school system.

Mr. Ford and Ms. Sobecki easily won two seats on the board - defeating five other candidates.

Both of them received support from the Toledo Federation of Teachers, as did current board President Steven Steel when he ran in 2005.
