Oust Webb, take back Point Place

As a former Point Place resident, I watched with amusement as the "Take Back Toledo" campaign worked to get a recall petition on the ballet to oust Carty Finkbeiner as mayor of Toledo. I think it's time for the residents of Point Place to start a new recall campaign to "Take Back Point Place," and oust Lindsay Webb.


Toledo City Council elected not to increase the fee Toledoans pay for refuse collection by a vote of 6-5. Councilmen Joe McNamara, Wilma Brown, Phil Copeland, George Sarantou, and Steven Steel voted to increase the fee. Councilmen Tom Waniewski, Michael Collins, Lindsay Webb, Michael Ashford, Michael Craig, and Betty Shultz voted against the increase. Councilman Frank Solloszi was absent.

Nine is Fine Petition Filing

Since May 2nd, Dave Schulz from Citizens Organized to Bring Reform and
Accountability (C.O.B.R.A), Tom Waniewski from Toledo City Council District
5 and Lindsay Webb from Toledo City Council District 6, as well as scores of
staff and volunteers have worked diligently to reach registered voters. In
just over four full weeks of circulating, more than 7,000 people signed the
Nine is Fine petitions.

If certified to the ballot, the Nine is Fine plan would bring change this
election cycle. The plan calls for only 3 people to be elected at-large this

The 9 Is Fine campaign heading into the final stretch this weekend. Petition circulators will be at the OWE festival, Point Place parade and OLPH festival Friday through Sunday. On Sunday, Tom Waniewski will be manning a table at center court at Westfield Mall from 11:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. seeking signatures for the petition. He will be joined by Lindsay Webb at approximately 4:00 p.m. The reception in the community has been great so far. Ward Calls For Salary Reductions In City Administration

Toledo Independent City Council At-Large Candidate Stephen Ward, calls for salary reductions in city administration. Recently, Councilwoman Lindsay Webb and Councilman Tom Waniewski along with the organization, Toledo COBRA held a press conference calling for a reduction in City Council from twelve members to nine. They cited that half of Toledo faces under-representation, and also tax dollars can be used to maintain some police officers.

Following through on her proposal to reduce the size of Toledo City
Council, Councilwoman Lindsay Webb will formally announce the 9 is
Fine Campaign on Saturday May 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Safety
Building in downtown Toledo.

Webb will be joined by Councilman Tom Waniewski from District 5, as
well as Dave Schulz, leader of Toledo COBRA (Citizens Organized to

City Pool Program

As chair of Youth, Parks and Recreation committee for the City of Toledo, your City Councilwoman recently announced the opening of Detwiler Pool for 2008 swim season. Last year the pool was closed. This year, Detwiler Pool underwent repairs to its concrete and received a new paint job.
