Jack Ford

democrat voter suppression in lucas county

Poor Jack Ford. He knows that his dynamic leadership and personality are being wasted by limiting himself to City jobs (is he not the Black Robin Williams?), but he just can't catch a break.

So he decides to run as an Independent against Edna Brown for the Ohio Senate and the Democrats contest his candidacy. What? That's voter suppression I tell ya! Those damn Democrats are limiting our voting options!

I already had my JACK FORD, BRINGING SEXY BACK yard sign and then this! I'm blaming YOU Steve Steel. You should be made to live in the strange-smelling fog of smoke that surrounds your house during the Old West End festival (what a minute--you already do that).

Jack Ford seemingly has everything one needs when it comes to being elected in Toledo/Lucas County--he's Black, he loves unions and--he's Black!

Isn't It Great News? Jack Ford...

Will soon be back on Toledo City Council! The word is he will be appointed to the seat being vacated by Phil Copeland. Mr. Ford can bring back to city council the experience and leadership this city needs. This could be a sign that Mayor Bell is either considering stepping down or Mr. Ford will challenge him next year. That would be great if Jack Ford would get back into city government and thereby block Carty Finkbeiner's likely try for mayor next year. If Jack Ford runs, I will support him.

I drove by Scott High School today and it felt like the lights went out.

Two days after the election, I drove by Scott high school, which I do a few times a day, but this time it was different. It felt like the lights had gone out. With the election of Bob Vasquez, Virginia Hill and Larry Sykes, to the school board, who will advocate for the neighborhood's high school, Jack Ford, Lisa Sobecki?

Steve Steel:"YOU LIE"

Back in September while giving a speech to Congress concerning Health Care, President Barack Obama was heckled by Senator Joe Wilson. Senator Wilson yelled out to the president, "you lie."
Well, last week after reading Steve Steel's Guest Column in the Sojourner's Truth newspaper, I shouted out to Steve Steel, "you lie." Well, this week I was joined by Jack Ford, Toledo Public School Board member.

Pride versus Humility

Sometimes pride gets in the way of being able to partake fully in things we as human beings want to do. What my parents told me was, "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face." I am such a holder of grudges that it is difficult for me to forgive and forget, especially if the offender has not apologized or even acknowledged that they were being offensive.

WARD THANKS SUPPORTERS AND CONGRATULATES CANDIDATES

Toledo, OH – The Primary Election results are in, and we now know who is advancing to the General Election.

Open Letter to the Black Community and anyone else interested in fair play, fair dealing and the truth,

I had the opportunity of attending the Toledo Board of Education's interviews for filling the vacancy left by the abdication of Steve Steel, the inveterate politician.

The interviews were held with Bob Vasquez presiding over the proceedings. Present were Ms. Darlene Fisher, Mr. Bob Vasquez, Ms. Lisa Sobecki and Mr. Jack Ford.

Boyce hiring Jack Ford's daughter is one of the issues dogging new treasurer

Dayton Daily News has a story on how the new Treasuer Kevin Boyce is raising eyebrows with some of his hires. Jack Ford's daughter, Jessica Ford was hired for 45k to be the local coordinator. Boyce says political connections had nothing to do with his hiring hiring practices. What do you think?

COLUMBUS — As Ohio’s budget swells with red ink, state Treasurer Kevin Boyce spent $32,469 in taxpayer money on promotional items such as water bottles, grocery bags and pencils and plans to buy another $47,457 in swag plastered with his name.

Former Toledo Mayor Jack Ford Endorses Ward for City Council At-Large

Toledo, OH- In the “My View” article published in this week's edition of the Sojourner Truth Newspaper, former Toledo Mayor Jack Ford endorses Independent City Council At-Large Candidate Stephen Ward.

Mr. Ford writes in his weekly column, “Stephen Ward will get one of my votes for Toledo City Council. Ward walks what he talks. He probably has no shot since he is not accepting campaign contributions but he will at least have one vote from precinct 13L – mine.”

For so long it has been said that politics is nothing more than a popularity contest, or who has or can raise the most money.

Politics 101: Don't try to rewrite history with someone who made it

There is something wrong with someone who writes to clarify the record, has the record rewritten on behalf of the “President of the Toledo Board of Education”. That sums up what Steven Steel tries to do in a response from a community member trying to clarify some misconceptions.

From 3 for change, to 3 for Children, now 3 for TFT?

A pair of their new colleagues charged that Tuesday's election of Jack Ford and Lisa Sobecki will further strengthen the grip of the Toledo Federation of Teachers union over the school system.

Mr. Ford and Ms. Sobecki easily won two seats on the board - defeating five other candidates.

Both of them received support from the Toledo Federation of Teachers, as did current board President Steven Steel when he ran in 2005.
